Bare Minerals?

Does anyone have any thoughts on this stuff? I'm interested, but don't know anyone who uses it. Seems a little too good to be true. I have a lot of freckles all over my face and am very fair skinned. I also break out easily and regular make-up makes me break out even more so. Any thoughts Mamas?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

WOW!! Thank you everyone! I'm going to try it. I think with a starter kit of $30 I can handle it and if I hate it, I'll send it back. I'm glad to hear that it lives up to it's reputation for the most part. Thanks again :)

I actually just stopped using the BM "foundation" powder. It was caking too much in my fine lines on my face. But I'm one of those people who started using it due to acne and for that reason, I absolutely loved it because it doesn't cause breakouts. I still use the Mineral Veil finishing powder, though, and love that.

I absolutely love it. It's for sale in the malls round these parts (either in Nordstoms or it's own small storefront), so it's easy to get a makeover / test things out.

I've tried the knockoff brands, and the big makeup company brands things... and they dry my skin out big time.

The foundation costs $20, but also lasts 2-3x as long as compact makeup / revlon / covergirl/ etc @ $12, so it's actually price comparable.

One trick is not to buy the finishing powder (forget it's name), but instead to just use a little bit of the foundation and mix it with corn starch. $1 instead of a second $20.

I agree.. get the starter kit. The small sizes are offset by the brushes and other "goodies" in the box. The normal sizes of the jars is about 4x as much as the starter kit.

I'm trying to make the same decision right now. My face is so quick to break out and I need something that will cover AND be healthy for my skin. I'm not sure about where you live, but here, we have a store called Ulta. You can go in and a makeup artist will use all the bare minerals products on you. You can wear it around for the day and see how it reacts after a full day of wear on your face. Then, if you love it, you can go back to Ulta and buy it! =0)

I used it and loved it. I started using it when I got married. For my wedding I got my makeup done at an Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa. The makeup artist there told me to buy the Bare Minerals and bring it to use. I figured if she's telling me to use Bare Minerals and not the products she sells, it must be good. I don't have breakouts, but I do have fair skin and freckles and I switched to the Mabelline version and I'm just as happy.

It's worth EVERY PENNY! The key is mosturize and buy their primer. Your skin WILL get better wearing BM. I had second degree burns that left some scarring from 25 years ago and covers everything. Buy the starter kit and go from there. I'm not a girly-girl meaning I'm not good doing hair or make-up but this stuff is idiot proof!

The sparkly stuff is included and helps give you a nice litte glow but it's not essential that you use it. As the day goes on your face will look BETTER from your natural oils and make-up blending together. I wouldn't use anything else on my face and it's the ONLY make-up that has ever matched my skin!

You should be able to skip the automated ordering by going thru QVC, the BE website, E-Bay or shop at Sephora or Alta. I get mine at the new outlet at Prime Outlets in Pleasant Prarie,WI or their boutique in Milwaukee at Bay Shore.

I used it once and realized it made my face sparkly. I'm not sure if it's because my roommate gave it to me (she loves sparkly things) and got that one specifically. Or if I used to much or even that's how they make it. BUT I do want to go and try it again. I liked it A LOT! Despite looking like a certain vampire.

I have been using Bare Minerals for years and I love it. Previous to finding it, all other foundations made me break out no matter how much they cost. I love this stuff. It is able to almost completely cover the dark spots on my face, you can still see them but not as visibly. It is light and I don't feel like I have a layer of paste on my face. Plus you put it on once and you are done for the day. I do not break out from it and I can even sleep in it. Try it you will be hooked :)

I used Bare Minerals in the past but now I use Beauticontrol mineral makeup and Love love love it! I'm sure its trial and error for some. Just ask for samples and try it and see how you like it-that goes with anyone and any kind of product I buy. I test it out beforehand. My mom uses the Beauticontrol as well and says she gets complimented on a daily basis about ow good her makeup looks......

Love IT!!! I am a make up junkie and this is the only stuff I use, I have rosecea and I can not wear foundation. What I use is the Aveeno Tinte Moisturizer first b/c I like how good it makes my skin feel and it's like using a primer almost. Then I lightly apply the bare minerals all over some warmth and mineral veil and BAM! good for the day.

go here to try it and have one of the associates direct you ... then order it online or from the infomercial the deal is better.
In regards to the sparkly comment, there is a matte and a shine version.

Bare Minerals is THE BEST! It is the only make-up that I have ever worn that does not cause breakouts and it feels like you don't even have makeup on. It is pricey, but one container lasts me a year. I've tried to save money by buying the drugstore knock-offs, and they are not nearly as good. Start off with their starter kit--it includes brushes, the dvd (which you need to watch), and the make-up. So worth the money!

I have very fair skin and love it. I have used it for nearly 4 1/2 years. It provides great coverage and it light weight. The trick is learning how to use it, but it isn't hard. Just watch the video and they show you how it is done, how to get more/less coverage. Regarding breakouts, I rarely have breakouts anymore.
I use the lightest one and the mineral veil. There are different mineral veils, so be sure that if you don't want sparkle to it, to get the original mineral veil. There is one that comes with the kit called warmth, but I never use that because my skin is so light it makes me feel like there is too much color on my face. It might be because I really didn't take the time to figure out how to use it. It is like a bronzer and I haven't ever been into bronzers.
The only thing I do know is that if you order from the TV, they set you up on a plan where is gets sent to you on a regular basis and the stuff lasts a very long time....I buy mine at Sephora. They have the beginner kit with all the brushes (which I love) and then you can buy it separately when you need things.

Try Sei Bella's line. Theirs is non-toxic and guaranteed.

The few people I have seen using Bare Minerals appear to have the make-up "caked" on and in my opinion it shows the fine lines more than no make- up did.

I haven't used that brand, but I use the same stuff from Covergirl. I love it! It is so light, and it covers great!

I use it and love it! I am not a heavy make-up person, but like to even out my skin tone and cover little things now and then. They recently started selling a matte versions of their foundation which is great for oily skin. The coverage and everything is the same as the original, it just keeps the shine down a little better. I have very fair skin and use "fair" in the winter and "fairly light" in the summer. The color blends nicely and I never have a makeup line. It also provides a little bit of natural SPF.
Good luck!

Hi M.---I've just purchased it but have yet to use it. Need to sit down and watch the DVD first. But, a Naturopath I work with recommends it as being very 'clean'...healthy for the skin. And this Natuopath is very demanding when it comes to using non-toxic products for food, skin and home. If Dr. Pam says it's one of the best, then I believe her.

Be well. D.
