he's probably NOT going to remember it, so take lots of pics, save the program and make a memory box or something.

He won't remember it, but you can take pictures and make a special page in his scrapbook for him to look back on.

Our daughter was dedicated in June at 4 months. We mailed out nice invitations (from Target no less). Everyone sat together up front for the dedication and afterward we all had lunch at our house. I made sure we took lots of pictures, I saved the invitation and program and put it in her scrapbook.

We invited close friends and family. We had a special lunch at our house and had special cake his grandmother made after. He wore a gown that his dad and uncles wore to their baptisms. We took lots of pictures. He was baptised Catholic so we had the candle, cloth and certificate used at the ceramony put in a special glass display box and its in his room for all to see.

Make sugar cookies and then paint icing on then them together with paint brushes. You can make your own powdered sugar icing. Use different colored food coloring and then put his first initail on the cookies. Have a small brunch on Sunday. Serve your cookies. Also blowing bubbles outside never made anyone cry.

Susan,
Sorry I am late with this. Just consider this suggestion. Since your 21 month old son will likely remember very few details of any specific event at this age, he will always remember how you lived your life and made your baptism an active part of your every day life. I am not suggesting that you verbally state each event of the day's activities occurred because you make baptism important to you. I am suggesting that if you live your life in such a way that your son can always remember your faith and your service to others, your love for the unlovable, your forgiveness when unjustly wronged, your patience, and your daily involvment in living and reflecting the image of Jesus, he will grow up knowing that baptism is more than a ritual of church membership. I fear our children hear us praise baptism and spiritual events and then see us live as though those events, having been accomplished, are no longer essential. I would like to suggest that you read the story of Jesus' baptism to your son as part of his reading experience. As he grows older, you can share with him how Jesus told John that baptism is part of fulfilling all the righteousness of God. I continue to be amazed at the depth baptism has for me when I consider that Jesus, the very son of God, perfect and blameless as He was, saw baptism as essential and of first importance to begin His life of ministry. Certainly, Jesus was concerned with more than church membership or even past sins, which He didn't have. Help your son discover how to live his life seeking after all the righteousness of God. Then his memory will only contain the simple fact.."I have always been about my Father's business". I hope this helps. I applaud your interest in this part of your son's growth and development.

I've seen some realy nice outfits at Burlington Coat Factory
Baby Depot for Baptism.

We had all of our family together at church and filmed her being dedicated. We all went out to eat afterwards. I had special cake plates and a nice cake made. I took her picture in her dress ahead of time and had it set up at the end of the table next to her cake and some light pink roses. We took allot of pictures, but the best part of the day was getting the news that our niece was born later that night.
My sister-in-law was with us at the party and went home and decided she didn't feel good so she went in and the doctor said she was in labor. =) Two blessings in the same day.
God Bless you and your son.

Hi Susan,

When my son was baptized we invited close family and friends to the service and then afterwards had lunch at one of our favorite restaurants close to the church. It was a nice quiet get together.

Have fun on the special day!
