Bankruptcy Attorney

Hello again mamas! This is a very personal issue with me, and being new to this area, I don't have a network of friends or family to turn to for advice so I am once again turning to my online community of friends to ask for help. My question is this: Do any of you know of a good, inexpensive bankruptcy attorney? I went to a free consultation with one attorney I looked up online and he wanted $2500 to take my case. I know lawyers are expensive, but do any of you know of any less expensive options, like paralegals or any bankruptcy attorneys that charge less than that? Debt consolidation is not an option because I have no job (SAHM) and my husband's income is already spoken for with his giant pile of bills and all of the household expenses. I am looking to file separately from him since these are debts I had before being married, the main one being a house in the state where I used to live that didn't sell before I relocated to TX with my newborn son. I "sold" this house on a land contract to a woman who was supposed to take over the mortgage payments, but now she has fallen three months behind and the bank is about to forclose on the property. This whole thing is a huge mess and there is much more to the story, but I'd rather not go into it on a public forum and just need to find the right bankruptcy attorney. This financial crisis is very difficult for us, so please do not judge me for making the decision to file. Any suggestions or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

G.,
Please call me to discuss. My husband and I own a company that specializes in debt reduction (not debt consolidation, and the like). In most cases, you do NOT pay us. We've had many of our clients regret the decision to file BK and end up losing their house in foreclosure anyway because they can't afford a BK payment and their house payment.

I'm sorry for your financial misfortune. We will consult with you for free and I may be able to help you go a different direction.

I think she charges about 1500 plus fees for running your credit report.

G.,
From what I know about these things (which is not too much), but my bff did it, and so did my parents, and $2,500 is pretty cheap! Maybe you could call around and find out. I am sorry about your situation! I hope something works out for you!

You could always go pro se and not hire an atty. It will take some research and time to do the documents yourself, but you will save a lot of money.
