Hello, I want to know the best way to keep bananas after mashing them or pureeing them? I use them for my 4 month old daughter.

What can I do next?

Squeeze a small amount of lemon juice (or anything with Vitamin C in it) on them to prevent oxidation (when they turn brown). Then depending on how quickly you are going to use them either put them in the fridge (I did that if I used them within the week) or if longer freeze them in small containers. Always remember to serve them from small containers and not save what you have been feeding from because it becomes contaminated with salivia which starts to break down the food and allows bacteria to grow.

I make some of my own baby food for my 7 month old too. I have learned to freeze the mashed up food in ice cube trays, each cube is about one oz. So two cubes what be equivalent to a small jar of baby food. I hope that helps :)

Unfortunately, bananas are one of those things, like avocado and melon purees, that don't really keep and that you aren't supopse to freeze either. Bananas and avocados get ripe/brown too quickly to really save them. I am a mom that makes all of her own baby food for my daughter. She is 10 months old, and I have been making baby food since she was about 5 months old. One of her favorites is bananas. I have a little 3 cup food processor from Cuisanart. I looks for smaller bananas at the store, cut-up around a half to even all of it, depending on the size (just eat the leftovers yourself!), a throw it in the mini food processor with baby oatmeal and some breastmilk. She loves it. Like I said though, you can't keep it. But I still think it is something that is quick and easy to whip up!

I have frozen bananas and then thawed them out when I needed them. They are just as good when thawed out.

Awesome that you have a little girl. I have three kids, my youngest is a girl. It's great being a mommy!!! I wouldn't change it for the world.

God bless you!!!

i just took empty baby food jars and put a little in with a little lemon juice and refrigerated it. You could also freeze if you need to keep them longer. I only put in enough banana that they would eat so then I could wash the jar.

I believe that you are able to freeze them. I would just put them in little individual containers so they are easy to grab and go.

Put a little lemon juice in with them and then freeze them. I think that's what the mom who I nannied for did.

bannanas save also if you cut one in half and caver the unpeeled half with saran wrap and leave on the counter. It should keep until the next day. They are easy to mash and healthy, I say mash as you are feeding it what she doesn't eat you eat. Healthy snack for you. Be careful though, cleaning your childs plate (after they are done) leads to weight gain. my mother - law sais that is how she gained all of her weight. I can see some truth behind this. Good luck.
