Baking/Cooking Classes

Good morning ladies! I need some help. My daughter (12) mentioned that she wanted to take baking lessons. I love to cook and bake and thought this would be a great bonding experience for us. Problem is, I cannot find any classes. I really don't know where to look. I used google and it brought up schools and not "fun" classes. Do any of you know where I can get more info on the classes in the Mesquite/Garland area. Thanks

What can I do next?

Probably not exactly what you're looking for, but Williams-Sonoma has free and low cost classes. I took my then 6 year old with me to several of their free technique classes held on Sunday afternoon. It's not hands on (not sure if their other classes are), but you get to see some techniques, try the food and get recipes to take home. There's also places like the Kids Cooking school (can't remember the exact name) at Preston/Royal in North Dallas. I don't know if they have mom/child classes, but worth a look.

Instead of a class maybe pick out a cool new cookbook and try one recipe a week (or month) out of it together?

Central Market has tons of classes! Go to their website and it lists them all. I've taken several by myself and a few with my daughter.

We have a business in Tyler called "Let's cook" which offers cooking classes for kids (just the kids, not the moms too). I don't know if it is a franchise or not though.

Good luck,
L.

I know Michael's craft store does cake decorating classes. I don't know if they do baking classes. Also look in your city paper. I know ours usually has classes around the area. Maybe look at your community college in your area. All will probably more than just how to bake brownies though. Good luck!
Baking is so much fun! I was taught by my late grandmother and I am hoping to pass it on to my daughter when she is old enough.
Oh and you tube has great tutorials!

Check into Young Chef Academy. They have one in Fort Worth, but it's a chain, so you could Google it and see if there are locations closer to you. They do cooking lessons and kids birthday parties and stuff. I don't know the recommended age range for cooking lessons, but it's geared towards kids, so worth looking into.

Try Market Street. They have classes for kids and are around $25 for an afternoon. My daughter and I always had a lot of fun with these!
