R.S.
I've used both Badger and CA Baby and find them both to be greasy. Badger was a little harder to rub in as well, but to be honest, anything topical that doesn't contain as many of the carcinogenic chemicals is not going to be smooth and creamy and easy to apply (unfortunately). Having said that, and having tried MANY sunscreens (and not wanting to use any of the brands that have the bad chemicals in them), I've been sticking with Badger. I also use UV swimshirts for my kids so that I don't have to use as much of the topical stuff. Plus they love the idea of not having to stop their playtime to apply and reapply sunscreen and I love the idea that I've just covered a large portion of their skin and don't have to worry if I 'missed a spot' (like what can happen with sunscreen). I share this advice as a mom, but also as woman who lost her husband to skin cancer when he was 32 and also as a business owner, as I started a company called UV Skinz after my husband died. We carry a great selection of swim shirts, hats and UV clothing. I don't want to use this forum to promote my business (as I come to mamapedia for parenting answers with my own five kids!) but also felt compelled to share there are more options out there than topical sunscreen applied ever couple of hours.
(Also, as a side note, May is coined Skin Cancer Awareness month and each May we have a campaign where we give away a free baby skinz swim shirt with each order in hopes it will help raise awareness about the need for sun protection on precious babies skin. We hope the swim shirt can be passed on to a baby-in-need (whether it be your own baby or a neighbor's baby. etc.) Again, I don't mean to be 'selling' anything on this forum, but this is a subject I am highly passionate about.
Good luck to you.
