"Bad Teacher" Movie--anyone Seen It?

Has anyone seen the movie "Bad Teacher" and can tell me a little bit about why it is rated R? My son, who turns 15 next week, wants to see it. I know rated R movies really vary. For example, I would have no problem with him seeing "The King's Speech," and even offered to take him, but he wasn't interested. However, I would never allow him to see "Bridesmaids." Other than bits and pieces of movies he's seen at sleepovers it would be his first rated R movie and my husband and I would take him. Any thoughts on what this movie is like?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Based on the comments and descriptions so far I really don't want to take him or have him see it. I forgot to add that my husband and I do have different opinions about it. He thinks it's no big deal, but I would rather not expose our son to stuff too early or without good reason. Many of his friends are allowed to see these kinds of movies so I am considered the strict mom. I didn't let him see "Little Fockers" or "Just Go With It" even though they were rated PG-13. I might let him rent "Just Go With It," unless I get comments here not to. Looks like I need to stick to my initial opinion "No" for "Bad Teacher."

FYI--he's not in high school yet and I realize that next year when he is it's going to be a whole new world. I agree that at that point gradual is better and with parental supervision and input. I saw my first R rated movies with my parents, although I was older than my son is now.

Go to kidsinmind.com. My pediatrician recommended this site to me several years ago and I have used it a lot. It will give you exact reasons why it is rated what it is rated. It lists nudity, sexual content, violence, and language, ranks each one (0-10 with 0 being none, I believe) and describes what kind (mild profanity, "escatorial references," strong language; partial or full, front or rear nudity, even if "nipple shape can be seen through swimsuit"; etc).

It is a bit of a "spoiler" for parents because of how well it describes everything, but it's worth it, IMO.

Edit: oh, yeah, I think it also lists drug uses/reference

I saw it with my husband. There is a lot of sexual references (they dry hump, hand gestures, etc.). There is a lot of bad language; I hate the "f" word. They do show boobs as Cameron Diaz is looking to do a boob job. And there is some drug references. They show them smoking pot a couple of times. Your call, but if I had a 15 year old...no way.

My daughter (18) and her bouyfriend went to see it. I had been saying that it looked funny and I wanted to see it, but the only previews I had seen were the ones where they are in the gym doing the dodgeball thing. Well, she came home and said, "Mom, that might not be your kind of movie." She said there were lots of drugs, sexual references, and at one point breasts across the entire screen.
I'm sure a 15 yr old boy would love that, but not something I would send them to.
Good luck!

I know the 'bad teacher' smokes pot... maybe not a great movie for your son.

I haven't seen it, but I'd like to... when it comes on regular t.v ;)

Have you seen the preview?
Based on the preview alone I would never allow my DS to see it.
It looks chock full of crude sexual humor.

I know there is a site you can go to...but don't know what it is called.
I'm sure someone will chime in w/ that info. ;)

JMO, but kids are exposed to a lot in high school. At 15, I doubt there's much your son hasn't heard already.

Kids who are really sheltered during high school often go crazy once they become independent, so a little gradual weaning is a good thing.

I'm with your husband.

I wouldn't let him see it. It does have alot of sexual gestures in it and the language is bad. Have him see the new Transformer's movie, it was a really good movie! But anything Rated R I would say NO to. Whats the rush? For goodness sake i'm 29 and still into cartoon's and kiddie movies! lol....My next movie will be Car's 2! :)....My daughter is counting down the day's to see Twilight Breaking Dawn, too bad she's NOT going to beable to see it! It's going to be toooo much sex and love going on in the movie and I don't want her to think thats ok...just my opinion!

I agree with the others. I saw Bridesmaids and Bad Teacher, and they were equally raunchy. I liked both of them, but thought Bad Teacher was funnier. If you don't want him seeing Bridesmaids, you probably don't want him seeing Bad Teacher either.

I think it is perfectly okay for parents to censer their kids programs and movies. I think kids these days see way too much, then think it is acceptable behavior.

I say go to a movie review site and read about it.

After reading the spoiler I wouldn't even rent it.
