Do any of you hate to go to sleep because of previous bad dreams?!?! The last three nights I've had nightmares... not just your usual bad dreams, but genuinue Nightmares. These are dreams where I cannot run ( I try, but do not move) and try to fight back but cannot make contact with the enemy, and I know I cannot make contact and I'm even more upset in my dream.... I try and try but cannot hit or run away from the person hurting me or my loved ones...... I'm aware in my dream that I cannot, even though I try and try..... arrrgh

Do any of you have any thoughts?? I'm kinda afraid to go to sleep.... I hate feeling helpless trying to protect myself or others.... not able to make contact with a face with my fist/hand.. or able to run away.. feeling like I am in pudding running away.

Any thoughts, mommas? I know this is sorta weird.

What can I do next?

Our brain uses dreams to help us work through emotional issues. Are you in a real time situation in which you feel powerless, for example. Think of your dream trying to tell you something. You could look up dream interpretation to help with this. Your dream is common and I've read of what this sort of dream might tell you.

I have had similar dreams but not always multiple nights in a row. I can't remember what issues I was working on those times but remember that I had similar issues involving feelings of powerlessness In real life. When I acknowledged feeling powerless and figured out ways to handle it the dreams stopped. I usually don't know I'm feeling powerless until I have the dream.

One thing you can do is wake yourself up at the beginning of the dream. Tell yourself before you fall asleep that you will wake up. Another thing is to think yourself through the dream while awake and change the ending in a way that gives you power.

Are you feeling out of control or helpless in any area of your life? After a nightmare I ask myself if the way I felt in the dream is similar to the way I feel when I'm awake. 9 times out of 10 the dream represents something I'm struggling with. Once I figure that out the nightmares end. Hope that helps!

Sounds like you're lucid dreaming.
If you're aware in your dreams if what's going on the you should be able to manipulate your dream actions. Try it!
And keep a dream journal. Dreams are often a metaphor for our life. It can help you figure out what's going on.

i've had this happen, yes. it sucks, but dreams are our subconsciouses convoluted way of trying to get messages to us. geez, i HATE the pudding run dreams! GAH!
there are a few things you could try, including keeping a dream journal (sometimes just the act of writing down what's happening helps that stubborn under-layer of self figure out what to do), put a couple of drops of lavender on your pillow, meditate before going to sleep and add some affirmations such as 'i have the power to change the course of my life and my dreams', or even do some psychic shielding around your bed.
i have certain recurring dreams, good and bad, which i've come to recognize as lucid. it's very helpful if i'm able to stop that underwater can't-move feeling, but frustrating if i'm about to fly, or go swimming at a bermuda beach, and go 'hey, i've been here before, this is a dream' and it all switches up<G>.
good luck!

Some medicines can cause nightmares or vivid dreams. Have you taken anything new recently?

I always try to reflect on what the dream means, what problem I'm facing, and address it in real life. I do have recurrent dreams, but almost never the same nightmare again.
