I know you said she didn't seem to be in any discomfort, but could she possibly be teething?
i have a 9.5 month old daughter who i have breast fed up untill about 2 weeks ago. at first all seemed well but this past week she has been making very large-seedy-runny #2 diapers. i have to change her clothes throughout the day and bath her off...just cant seem to keep her clean. she does not seem unhappy at all or in pain but this just doesnt seem normal.??

If she is still drinking breastmilk (you didn't say) she is probably just drinking more at one time now because it's in a bottle.
I would check to see if she is dehydrated. Press your finger on her skin and if it leaves a dimple take her to the doctor! Sounds like the runs to me. My daughter did the same thing when I tried cow's milk with her. She was exclusively breastfed until just past 6 months and didn't get cow's milk until after 12 months. She still prefers me over cow's milk. If it's not a cow's milk issue, it could be food poisoning. Make sure you sterilize the bottles or cups you give her. And remember, breastfeeding is not an all or nothing proposition. You can still offer the breast even if you are supplementing with formula. The World Health Organization recommends you give breastmilk until at least age 2. In any case, if this continues, call your doctor even if she isn't dehydrated.
L.,
I recently changed from breast to bottle, and my darling son did the same thing, and the doctor said it was okay. (but that was my son - call your doctor (and if he is anything like mine, he probably expects a call when something changes!!))
Good luck to you.
Blessings,
C.
Is it green? That is normally indicative of an upset tummy. Did you switch to formula? It might just be an adjustment period??? I would give your dr a call. I am sure they could tell you over the phone if it is normal or not.
Hey L.,
You might want to check with her doctor, but her body is changing it's digestive pattern as well as the change to formula, so it may just be that. The other thing I have to tell you, is that if you've been breastfeeding this whole time and her diapers haven't been like that then you are lucky! There have been days when my daughter has gone through 4 outfits because everytime she has a bm it seems to come out of her diaper somewhere. At first I thought I wasn't doing a good job getting them on her properly, but at this point we have realized it's just the gas behind it! I'm sure it's nothing out of the ordinary, just the change is taking adjustment. I hope it gets better!
