Bacteria Infections

My 3 1/2 year old has a bacteria infection in his blood (bacteremia). This is the 8 time in the last two years that he has been diagnosed with this. He had a chest x-ray but no signs of pneumonia. He has a fever of 103.6, is very lethargic, cranky, upset stomach, and general listlessness. He has several doses of rocefrin shots for treatment. He does not have any infections of his ears, nose, throat, and does not complain of anything specific hurting. I am concerned that he repeatedly has this. Has anyone experienced this or any suggestions would be helpful? I am very worried and wondering if something else is underlying cause that is being missed.

What can I do next?

Hmmmm... Is it possible that when you're fighting it, instead of it going completely away, it merely gets down to so little you think it's gone -- then, it rears its ugly head again -- this time stronger and more resistant to antibiotics? Eight separate times seems crazy...

My advice is a specialist. Get to the bottom of these infections. Either it's not getting dealt with in full each time or there's something going on that he's being reinfected.

Poor baby! Poor mommy!

My 4 & 1/2 year old son kept having this problem when he was a baby. He was actually hospitalized 6 times in like less than a year with this. His pediatrician sent him to a specialist and we found out that he had asthma.

It sounds like he has some resistant bacteria and needs to be hospitalized and treated with stronger IV antibiotics. He needs to be seen by a specialist, an infectious disease dr. for sure.

You as a mother should not have to deal with a medical issue with a 3-year old that is this complicated and frightening! This is when the medical profession should be helping the most, but they leave us in the lurch. What is your pediatrician thinking? I agree with Heather W that vaccinations are culprits in many situations and there are many more causes to look at. I would also add to ask your doctor or find another one who will test for Lyme's disease and parasites. They’re sneaky but only scary when you don't know they're there and they are not treated in time. Go to www.upcspine.com and locate a good chiropractor in your area (but travel a bit to get to one if you must) and do some research online on his symptoms. Fight for your rights as a parent and his rights as a child to be protected by the medical system, not used as a guinea pig or ignored as a patient. Let me know what happens!

Did you ask doctor how he's getting a bacterial infection? Has he been outside playing/sitting in the dirt, where there has been a cat or dog around? Unfortunately, some doctors won't give out information unless you ask, because they want that $. Check your child's habits, playing with animals, something inside or outside the house that he is doing to catch the infections.

It sounds to me like a reation to Vaccinations. His immune system is most likely messed up from the chemicals in the vaccines and the antibiotics in the vaccines. Yes there are antibiotics in vaccines if you are not aware.

If you want more information I would go to www.yahoogroups.com and sign up for the Vaccinations Yahoogroup, there are doctors and other professionals who are used to dealing with vaccine reactions and will admit when a child is having a reaction to a vaccination. Most doctors will not admit it because they make too much money off of them.

I would also find a good Chiropractor and a good Homeopath as that can help a lot as well.

I hope your little one is better soon.

It is very concerning that he has had this diagnosis so frequently and frequently repeating rounds of antibiotics is not good either. I would recommend using silver (a good high quality one) to get rid of the infection, and then as a maintenance daily since your child is frequently ill. I would also suggest using foods and herbs to support the immune system.

Please have your child checked for menigitis. All all the symptons are the same when my daughter was diagnosed with it at the age of two. The doctors missed it the first time and almost the second. They caught on only after noticing that she had a stiff neck. She was rushed by ambulance to the hospital from the doctors office after a spinal tap confirmed the condition. She was hospitalized for ten days.
