Backpack Diaper Bag?

Does one have a backpack diaper bag that they love? I bought one last year from BRU to use for airline travel, but it hasn't held up (only used about 5-6 times). I need a replacement but I am looking for something that will last and has lots of room and compartments. When I travel, I prefer to use a backpack that can hold all of my daughter's stuff plus room for my items. Thanks!

So What Happened?

Thanks to everyone for their postings! I ended up with two GREAT backpack bags. The first is Lands End bag - which has lots of great pockets. The second was from BabyBrowns (http://www.babybrowns.com/ProductInfo.aspx?productid=MS-2.... This one was a cross the chest strap which I didn't think I would like, but I did! It is very comfortable and my husband loves it, too! I ordered (and then returned) the two bags from One Step Ahead. They looked great in the catalog - but I didn't think they were very pratical. One was way to bulky and the other was hard to open (zipper was behind the strap). So, thanks again!!

Hi A.,

My daughter took 6 round trips on a plane before she was one. I don't think I would have made it without my backpack. I use a regular one (Jansport). I bought it when she was 3 months and now she's 2.5. It's not a diaper bag but its held up great. Might be a consideration for you.

We have an Eddie Bauer back pack diaper bag that i LOVE! It's two+years old and is holding up great. There are two insulated pockets on the outside for bottle, and three on the inside, plus lots of pockets, storage places and compartments. It's big enough for all my daughters stuff and I shove my stuff in there too. Plus, it's a manageable size.

Good luck!

Land's End has a fabulous backpack diaper bag. It has tons of storage space, has held up great for 3 years as my main diaper bag, and comes in a variety of colors. It's got nicely padded straps and is very comfortable, no matter how much I stuff in it when we travel.

I have tried just about every diaper bag out there and found that with 3 young kids a backpack diaper bag was the best for me. I have a 2yr. old, 3yr. old and 4yr. old. I bought a ju-ju be diaper backpack and love it! Completely worth the money and fits a lot of stuff!. Here is a link with the one I have:

We've been using one from Pottery Barn Kids. They hold up, and later your child can use it for preschool.

Try One Step Ahead. Although I don't have one myself, I saw 2 that seemed pretty nice.

I started with a diaper backpack from Babies R Us. It cost around $75 and I thought it would be perfect. That is until less than 2 months later, it started coming apart at the seams. I do think a backpack is better than a shoulder bag, especially since I had twins so i really needed both hands free!
After that, I was so bothered that I'd spent that much and gotten a product that just didn't hold up, I ended up just looking at regular backpacks. For just a fraction of the cost, I found several good quality backpacks that would satisfy my needs. (and lots of pockets, etc) I ended up going through 2 more backpacks over the next 4 years and those two didn't cost together what the diaper backpack cost by itself. I've heard people say they love the eddie bauer backpack diaper bag but to me, it's just not worth the extra money. Look for one that is not made of that slippery parachute like material (I'm drawing a blank at the name of it) because that material will just pull at the seams and cannot be repaired well. Really think about what you will be carrying and make sure there is room for everything plus, and enough pockets so you don't have to pull out a bunch of stuff to get to the rest that's on the bottom.

good luck!

I know people who love messanger style bags. My SIL has one that's called the Diaper Dude or Daddy Dude or something like that. Not really a backpack, but maybe better on your back?

I have a backpack made by Jansport that I love. It's not a "diaper bag" and I got it at Dick's Sporting Goods, but I bought it for travel w/kids and it's great. It has all sorts of pockets, both small and large, and 2 bottle holders on the sides. It has held up extremely well.

Hello,
I originally used a duffel bag type of diaper bag but have switched to a backpack diaper bag about three months ago. The bag is by Columbia. I purchased my diaper bag from kids r us/Babies r us for more than it is currently being sold for. I was amazed when I found the bag it works out well (well for me) and I love it. I think it really depends on ones needs and how much one decides to pack. I provided the link below. Good luck with your search.

I don't know of one in particular, but I have friends that just bought a normal (but smaller) bookbag b/c it holds up well b/c it's designed to hold heavy books, not just diapers. I've used purses or tote bags myself b/c they're more heavy-duty than the same-priced diaper bags. Good luck!

I do! I have one that I bought at Babies R Us and I love it! It has straps that hook to the handle of the stroller. it has a side compartment that is insulated. and on the otherside it has sections for ID and credit cards. The middle is all open and it has a big pocket on the back side of the inside. Its not cute really its grey w/ orange accents - but it really is convenient! We have had it a little over a year and use it ALL the time! I think we paid $39 which I think is pretty reasonable.

Good luck!

I found one I like at Babies R Us it is by Baby Trend. I've had it for well over a year now and use it every day and it has held up VERY well. It has lots of compartments, a key holder, cell holder, cold compartment, etc. We used it on our vacations too and it has held up very well. I use it every day and really like it.

I got one from SkipHop. They have some @ Buy Buy Baby, or go to babycenter.com. I believe they also have a website. There are a lot of compartments that are useful. It comes with a changing pad, and there's even a zipper on the side that allows you to get something out of the bag while it is on your back.
It comes in black, grey, red & green, and is about $60. Totally worth it!
Good luck!
