my kids are 5 and a half, 45 inches and 43 lbs. we have marathon booster seats in my car. they're getting small for them, and kids are uncomfortable. what do i get next? is there a safe highly recommended backless booster seat? i am not sure what my next purchase should be.
all advice is greatly appreciated

As far as I am concerned they are all pretty much the same. Some have more bells and whistles, but they are basically the same and must all meet certain safety standards. I think you should go with what best fits your kids and your vehicle. My daughter was in a booster seat until she was about 8 or nine I'd say.... It converted to a booster seat from a 5 point harness. I have lost the 5 point harness though. My 4 year old uses it now, though I myself have been looking to replace it with a booster seat booster seat that my 3 month old will be able to use once she gets old enough.(yeah i know... she is only 3 months old). but I always look at things in those terms.

My advice to you would be maybe to look online at reviews for booster seats at places like walmart and other stores where people can leave feedback. maybe do a google search for booster seats and see what you find. I just got a basic one that had a cup holder that pulled out from the seat. It worked fine and still works fine. I had to buy it after they changed the car seat rules to make my then 5 year old have to be in a booster seat and I was using the other aforementioned one for another child. Doesn't need to be anything special.... just look at them and see what looks good for you. good luck.

I just saw a tv show on car seats and they say the worst type are the backless ones.. they don't keep the kids secure at all.. it's almost like putting them just in the car. look at the ones with the backs and you put the safety belt over them.. good luck.. I know the eddie bauer one was great.. I think I got it at target..

A 5 point carseat is the best protection in accidents, We purchased Two Britax Regents, online it was free shipping and no tax , so basically it was buy one car seat, get one half price, They will safely hold your child up to 80lbs, I will keep our children in these for a very long time. They were about $170 for each seat but well worth it. I am strongly against anything that relies only on the lap belts. These seats are big and comfortable like a race car seat.. good luck this is what sold me

My son is only 8 months old so I have no experience, but I thought you might be interested in this recent story I saw on Good Morning America. Apparently they tested a bunch of booster seats and many of them didn't measure up to their safety standards.

Good luck with your decision.
