Back up Plan for Party in Case of Bad Weather

DD's 6th bday party is coming up in 2 weeks. We have about 12 kids coming I think. Half boys, half girls. We have a small pool in the backyard (12 ft around 3 ft high) and a small bouncy house we own, and a swingset. Plenty to entertain them. We'll do water balloons or something too.

I am nervous if it rains, what the heck will I do with the kids. I am comfortable with crafts for girls like beading necklaces, or painting things but the boys coming are not all "sit down and do a craft" types.

My house is only 1300 sf and I just don't know how I'd occupy them all indoors!!

I was thinking they can decorate their own giant cookie or cupcake to take home. Or maybe give everyone a t-shirt and let them draw on it with fabric markers and they can take that home.

Anyone with 6 yo boys that has some good activities in mind? Thanks!

What can I do next?

Monster masks and fairy wings. Both super easy to make, both lots of fun for the kids. Google is your friend. :-)

I'd offer a couple of options that suit the kids' personalities. I have a 6-year-old boy who isn't at all interested in crafts. Why don't you set up some board games such as Checkers, Sorry, Monopoly Jr., etc. and then also have a crafts station? Or you could have them play good old-fashioned charades, telephone, etc., which wouldn't require a ton of space.

You can get unpainted wooden cars or trains, butterflies, etc from a craft store, and they could paint them.

Indoor pinata
Pin the tail on the donkey
Musical chairs
Dance party

Select a craft all the kids can make, not one for girls and one for boys. Watercolors can be purchased at dollar stores along with paper, the kids can create a masterpiece, string up some string and clothespins and you can hang them to dry. Or cut-up squares of different colored tissue paper can be glued to construction paper to make mosaic pictures, again, tissue and glue are available at dollar stores. Necklaces of long red thin licorice that fruit loop type cereal can be strung on are popular with boys and girls, all kids love them! Decorating a large cookie would be good, too, just have treat bags ready to place the cookies in or they'll eat them onsite.

And my fave site for anything crafty for kids is Family Fun, here's a link to crafts you can look through:

My boys are 5 & 7 and they LOVE Legos. They also like crafts. PlayDoh would also work.

Scoot your furniture out of the way and play freeze dance - we were indoors for my son's 6th birthday and the kids LOVED it. Gives them a way to expend some energy.
