Back to School - What Do You Pack in Your Kid's Lunch?

This year I'm trying to make it to where my kids only take their lunch to school I do not like the school lunches and I hate paying the prices too. I'm thinking of stuff like turkey & cheese sandwiches, fruit cups, applesauce cups, carrots, cucumbers, grapes, apple slices, peanut butter & jelly sandwiches, and peanut butter & honey sandwiches. I'm afraid my girls will get tired of the same things over the whole year. What type of things do you pack in your child's lunch?

What can I do next?

We are not allowed any peanut butter. We do sandwiches, wraps, salami with cheese and crackers, hard boiled eggs, cereal, cold pizza, cold hot dogs, waffles, pudding, jello, applesauce, yogurt, fruits and veggies. I also do the cold grilled cheese.

My kids are only in preschool/Mother's day out, but we do a lot of jelly sandwiches, mini bagels with cream cheese and Greek yogurt. I usually put an ice pack in if I pack yogurt, but otherwise I don't. My kids aren't allowed PB, so I really have to get creative! My son also likes if I do salami, cheese, and Ritz crackers. I did a wrap for the first time a few weeks ago and my daughter thought that was kind of fun! Also, cold grilled cheese or quesadillas are good. If your kids will eat hummus, that is good protein and can be put on bagels, pita or veggies.

I am also looking for new items to pack in my son's lunch. Last year, we made pizza quesadillas (take tortilla, put pizza sauce, cheese and pepperoni and top with another tortilla and put in microwave (I have a quesadilla maker, but it works in a microwave too) and once the cheese melts, you can cut in slices. My son loves these. We also made bacon wraps and veggie wraps with tortillas (as you can see I keep tortillas on hand). I also made salads in a container with the dressing in another container. My son also loves green peppers. I would cut them into slices for him to eat. This summer, he loved tomato sandwiches. So, we will probably add that to the list. I also sent leftovers from dinner the night before like mac & cheese and scallop potatoes. Hope this helps!

Check this woman's website out. I recently found her website on pinterest, and have been using her Bento box lunch idea PDF as a guide for what to fix my kids for lunch during this summer school break. Even my 14 yr old is enjoying the lunches. And, I'm happy to report, my kids are even eating ALL of the items I'm putting in their lunches. (I put one item from each category in their lunch.)

Anything and everything!!!
Really, just pack whatever it is you know your kids will eat.
I've seen kids bring hot dogs (kept warm in a thermos) leftover pizza, sushi, fried rice, raviolis, taco salad, you name it.
And for some reason cutting food into fun shapes makes it more likely to be eaten, go figure!

My daughter likes her school lunch but sometimes I pack her a lunch (her school lunches are and can be unhealthy sometimes) so I pack healthy stuff like yogurt, tuna sandwiches, fruit salads, and snacks too.
