OH my summer has come & gone again..The school supplies are out.I have my list of items & most I have a stock pile of from last year so I shall reuse all the new items I have for my son.My list is almost complete.Still need new clothes, shoes, back pack so have any of you mommas started or finished yet on your lists for your kiddos.I like to get it done out of the way before the crowds hit & all the sales are good.
The school supply lists are in the stores for us,they are online at the school,& I have 1 from last year so I know what to buy.Summer clothes are going on clearance already they wear shorts till October off & on then i'll shop for their fall/winter apperal as it comes out.I do however still buy some summer shorts & t's for them for the new school year their clothes from summer get worn & ratty.I agree that the school supplies have come out early we begin in less than a month here a few weeks early this year than it was last year.

What can I do next?

Just finished up supplies yesterday ! The only thing I need is the big size of construction paper and no one here has any yet. I'll get it when it comes in. I'm with you - get the stuff early while it's in stock and cheap. Clothes and shoes will have to be in a couple of weeks when I have the money. My boys will wear shorts into October and sometimes November so hopefully it won't be too bad.

I like to get my shopping done early. All the stuff is out now at Target. As usual, one of my daughter's schools hasn't gotten any kind of supply list out or up on their web site. I'm sure they'll come around to getting them out about 3 weeks before school starts, grrrrr.

I bought most of the supplies this weekend. They will be gone for the most part in a few weeks and I will be stuck. The school gives a list the last day of school along with the registration paperwork for the next school year. I just buy and then stock it away until the week before school when we get things together. I paid 40 cents for a box of 24 crayons and they will be almost $2 the first week of school, if anyone has any. I always buy lots also. Clothes shopping wil be in the next couple of weeks because I will have trouble finding them if I wait until the end of August. For some reason stores don't think kids need replacements mid year and they disappear at the end of September. And my kids are tall so really can be difficult to find stuff.

I am actually boycotting the purchasing of any school items until August - maybe even mid-August. I was appauled that walmart and target had the school supplies out right after the 4th of July - c'mon! It is still summer - LOL!
however, I typically don't buy school supplies until the weekend prior to school and in terms of clothes, it is so stinking hot down here until October, I don't buy "fall" clothest until then and by then, most are on sale trying to clean out inventory for winter :) Win-win!
Kudos to you, though!

I actually don't do it ahead of time as the teachers usually give out a supply list the first day, so we don't really know what's actually required until then. Pencils and paper get them through the first day or two.
As far as clothes go, I wait until a month or so after school starts because the weather here is still warm well into October. The kids are still wearing their summer clothes until then (and after about a month all those back to school clothes get marked down significantly!)

We stopped by Target last night and saw the supplies. It was the first I'd thought of it! I only have one to shop for and the list isn't that long. We will try to do this before it becomes "last minute", though.

I don't worry much about "school clothes" since the kids are so casual, they wear just about the same things to school as she does in the summer. So it's just a continuation of having enough clothes that fit.

I stock pile too... I think the only thing we need this year are new backpacks (used the other one's for 3 years and they're DONE) and glue sticks :)
