What can I do next?

minimum wage, so in IL that would be $8... however you are in Naperville which is a higher income area so you may have to pay more
ASK her. 25 yrs ago I was making $6 an hour there.
One way you can pay them is say $12 for every hour up until the kids' bedtime then $6 an hour after that, or something like that. Cause if your kid goes to bed at 8 but you stay out to midnight the sitter is basically not doing anything but being there in case of a fire or emergency. Or you can put a nightly amount, like pay $40 a night.

It depends on your area. Our area averages a minimum of $10/ hr.

My 18 yr old just graduated HS and sits regularly for about 4 families. She averages $12-$15/hr. she easily brings in $100 for 1 night babysitting. She never set rates but she does interact with the children.

I will say that these families have top priority.

When we used sitters for daughter, we guaranteed $40 for the night then we paid accordingly. We still have weekly date nights and when we had sitters it was usually $60-$80/ night on average, higher if we were later, etc.

High school sitters near me charge $10/hour and college age or older usually $12 - $15/hour. So I'd expect to pay $10 - $12/hour for your sitter. Cost is the same whether it's one or two kids. Enjoy the evening out!

My high school sitters I pay $8 per hour and my college age sitters I pay $10 per hour. I usually give this little gifts during the year (Christmas and their birthdays). If I'm home early I typically pay them for the time I told them I'd be out. Hope that helps!
