My sitter is also a teacher from my son's daycare. He is 16 months old. I pay her $10/hr. She has a 7 yr. old daughter and I always let her bring her daugther w/her.
We finally found a sitter we trust for our 16 month old, but I am not sure how much to offer for pay? The sitter is actually one of the teachers from her daycare. What do most of you pay for sitters? OR if you are a babysitter how much do you charge.
Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Have you asked her how much she charges? If she works at a daycare center than I'm sure she's already babysat for families there before.....I pay $10 an hour for my sitter now, but when I used daycare sitters they'd ask for $12-$15 because they could - were in high demand
I pay $50 per day or ($10 per hour if she doesn't work all day) for an in-home baby sitter than comes 3 days a week to watch a 12 month old & 2 1/2 year old. I am north of Denton. Most sitters I've found charge around $25-40 per day (per child) or $8-12 per hour. It would also depend if you will be using the sitter full time or part time. If you use them full time, you might pay less per hour or a weekly rate.
There was a post like this earlier today.
It does depend on your area. You are in McKinney, I am in North Plano.
We paid $10/hr for our high school Sr/college student sitters. We guaranteed $40 for the night because they saved the date for us. Then we paid on top of that. Date night ran around $60-$80 per week.
Good for you....go have date nights and stay connected to hubby. That is priority in our marriage of almost 22 yrs.
I pay $10 an hour and my two sitters seem to be pleased with that. I normally tip a bit on top of it at the end of the night.
I am happy to hear this is around the going rate!
We use a teacher from daycare as well. We pay her $10 per hour and then buy her and the kids pizza, chinese food, or whatever food she feels like for that evening. We usually wind up giving her a tip on top of that because she always cleans up the toys and does dishes without us asking her. LOVE THAT!
