pacifier.
possibly teething too.
ibuprofen - call your doc for dosing- the gums swell at night which can be painful if your baby is teething-
good luck-
My 8 month old daughter is waking up about 3 times a night. At 5 months, she was sleeping all through the night and then one day she had the stomach bug. Ever since that day, she has not slept the same. When she wakes up, I've tried ignoring her until she falls back asleep, but she wont stop crying unitl I give her a bottle. But, she only drinks about an ounce of her bottle and then falls back to sleep. It's driving me nuts!! Any advice? And, I do feed her solids and I am sure to fill her up before bedtime.

Try to give her any extra ounce of milk at her last feeding. Is she eating solids yet? Maybe she's a little hungry in the middle of the night. Don't worry. Soon your sleepless nights will be over. :) Good Luck.
I'm not a great one to be handing out advice, because my 6 mo is still getting up to breastfeed 2-3 times per night :(. But, what if you gave her a bottle of water when she wakes up? I have read that if you do this, eventually they will think it is not worth it to get up anymore. Might be worth a try. It also sounds like she is waking looking for comfort more than she is food....maybe just a couple minutes of rocking rather than the bottle? Good luck!
I am NOT a fan of cry it out. Lately they have been publishing articles about the rise of blood pressure, decrease in oxygen, and stress hormones that elevate. Please look into this so that your poor baby doesn't have to scream herself to sleep and into helplessness. Sorry that sounds so dramatic, but I feel strongly about it.
And idea you could do is put a bottle of water in her bed with her. Maybe she really is thirsty. I did that with my son at that age and he'd wake up, take a drink and go back to sleep. Otherwise, you just might have to be loving and patient through this phase.
I have found that with my first three kids that around 6-8 months or so they decided they want to be up and they work ya. I am not sure the stomach bug is the reason you are having a problem, it is probably just the catalyst.
My doc told me a couple of kids ago that feeding them at night just encourages the behavior. You want to let them cry it out or try to sooth them with anything but a bottle or food and they will get back into their routine. For the record, I could never make it through the cry out method. This is not just because I hated to listen to the crying but they would wake the others, then I'd have everyone up. I did however always see improvement if I was able to keep the bottle away.
Hope this helps.
What I have learned with my 2 children is there is no magic day or time that they start sleeping through the night, even when they do so for a while there are no guantees it will stick. I always hear new parents say "oh we are so glad he/she is sleeping through the night now!" but a few weeks/months later that has changed. What I'm telling you is not to stress too much- it may or may not have anything to do with the stomach bug or anything you are or are not doing- it may be just a little phase. Try some of the suggestions below as you see fit but try not too stress. For me, just accepting that sleep was always going to go in cycles somehow helped me. My son is 2 and still wakes up occasionally for one reason or another. Good luck. I will say a sippy cup of water may help- she is old enough for a sippy cup for sure.
maybe give her more food before go to sleep?
My sister was like that, and my poor mom didn't knew what to do until one day she added some rice to her milk before sleep and she sleep all night, mine on the other side has being waking up for almost a YEAR, I tried so many things but she wasn't not hurt, not hungry, no teething, no hot (except once no long ago since the weather is finally nice and I forgot to change the temperature and when I saw her she was sweating, poor thing) I just kept putting her back to her bed without saying nothing, finally now she is sleeping all night!
