My son had really chapped cheeks as well. We used a 10% Hydrocortisone cream 2x a day and Aveeno baby lotion. It seemed to clear it up right away.
Hi, our son has mildly chapped cheeks -- it has only started now that it's gotten colder out and we live now in a more windy part of town. We've tried using Mustella's baby face cream, but it hasn't really made it go away. Any good recommendations for dealing with baby's chapped skin?
Hi, well our son's chapped cheeks are gone, thanks to the Burt's Baby Bee cream that I tried. Aquaphor works just great, but rubs off too easily for our active little baby, and so I tried the Burt's cream and it worked wonders. Thanks for all of these great suggestions!

Unfortunately both of our kids have my skin which is fair and sensitive and definitely prone to dryness during the winter. We used Aquaphor for our daughter and are going to start using it for our son. It worked wonderfully and our daughter grew out of it within a year or two so hopefully your experience will be the same. Good luck!
Hi M.
My son has eczema, so he has very dry patches all over his body and face. We use Aquaphor on his face and Eucerin on his body, they cost a bit, but are well worth it.
I had the same problem with my daughter last winter, her little chubby cheeks were always red and chapped. The BEST thing that we could find was by Gerber in the baby section called ...... Teeny Faces. It looks like a large lip balm, you just rub it on the face before and after they are outside. This product is also great for you. When I get a dry nose from constant blowing it (when your sick) if you rub this stuff on your nose it takes it away! Good Luck.
Hi M.,
A&D ointment (not the creamy one) works wonders on dry skin, rashes and especially chapped skin and lips. My daughter has very sensitive skin so this works well with her. The only thing that would be considered a "downside" to this ointment is it has a stronger scent.

Gentle Naturals Baby Eczema cream is great! It cleared up my daughter's dry patches in 2 days. It was recommended to me by other moms. You can find at Walgreens, CVS, and if I remember correctly even just the grocery store in the baby section...
the Gentle Naturals Baby Eczema cream is good. I agree with the other mom. That is some good cream
Hi M.
WE used baby vaseline.
I would recommend Arbonne's Baby Skin Line or their Rejuvinating Cream. It does not have a smell at all, it is great for Baby skin of all kinds and adults as well. It is a great cure for ecsema and dry skin because it is ultra-hydrating and non-greasy. They also have the rejuvinating oil for severe dry skin.
(I am actually an independent consulant for Arbonne, so let me know if you are interested.)
My daughter gets chapped skin under her lip in the fall and winter (the area tends to be wet because she sucks her thumb). Plain old Vaseline tends to cure it within a couple of days. Someone else recommended Aquaphor and Eucerin. I've also used Aquaphor on chapped skin, and it works wonders. Eucerin is great for general skin care, but I wouldn't use it on a chapped area. My dermatologist recommended both Aquaphor (for chapped/sore skin) and Eucerin for general lotioning for my son because he has sensitive skin.
Welcome to the windy city!
My daughter has chapped skin in the winter and we use Burt's Bee's lotion. You can find it at Whole Foods or CVS. We use the honey bee ( I think). We love it, it is all natural.

I would try a chamomile cream unless you need the petrolatum in most other creams for a barrier to the elements. Weleda and Chamocare are 2 brands that come to mind.

sounds like your son has eczema, which is excessively dry skin. Babies tend to manifest it on the cheeks, flexors of the arms, ankles, knees, and neck. It tends to occur more in the dryer climates like during cold weather.
Deep skin hydration is the key; there should always be moisturizer (like the ones recommended by the other moms) on him day and night. Plain Vaseline works and is much cheaper. People just don't like the greasiness of it but it's been used for generations as a way to keep skin hydrated.
Avoid long hot baths, and pat dry his skin after baths and immediately apply the lotion/Vaseline all over. Make sure his nails are short, in case he wants to scratch them. Most babies grow out of this.
We use Aquaphor for almost everything (diaper rash, lip balm, chapped cheeks) and Eucerin for general skin care. Our pediatrician recommends Aquaphor, too.
