I want to throw this question out there. When your baby is 16 weeks old, is she 4 months or do you got by the actual date she was born? My example. My daughter will be 16 weeks on Wednesday but she was born on the 26th of September. Will she be 4 months on the 26th or at 16 weeks? Thanks!!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you so very much for all your responses. I figured if I did it by weeks she would in fact be a year old before her actual birthdate. Thanks for straightening me out!!

She will be 4 months on the 26th. A month actually has 4.33 weeks in it. Therefore, 4 weeks does not a month make (except in February!). :)

16 weeks in actual weeks in considered lunar months. Going by the day she was born is our calendar months.

Well I think you can use either weeks or months to refer to the baby's age depending on what you prefer, because keep in mind one month is more than four weeks so it's never going to coincide directly.

Your baby, though she may be 16 weeks, is not actually 4 months until January 26 (just like she will not be 12 months, or 1 year, until next Sept 26th). This can be confusing, as 1 month is actually a little longer than 4 weeks (except for non-leap year Februarys). This becomes important when you are scheduling her well-child visits, especially for things like immunizations, which are given on a schedule according to age in months, and not weeks. At any rate, congratulations on your new little one - 4 months is such a fun age!

I stopped using weeks around 20 weeks and then switched to months. She will be four months on the 26th.

Hi F.,

Congrats on your new baby. I think your baby will be 4 months on the 26th. Since there are more than 28 days in most months, you will go by the date, not by the week. Otherwise your baby would be 12 months old at 48 weeks instead of 52.

Enjoy her while she is little - they change so much every day!

if she was born sept 26th...then october 26th she a month old, nov 26th shes 2 months old....ect. so jan 26th she will then be 4 months old. its different when we're pregnant and then after they are born. i caught myself doing the same thing when my daughter was born. cuz think about it...sept 26th 2008, she would be a year old correct? but if u went by weeks...it would make her a year old a while before she was actually a year old. its all dates now. congrats on ur daughter.
