He did finally roll over by himself, now he has no problem. It just took some concentration, I guess. Thank you for your responses!!

So What Happened?

Thank you so much for your responses! I just thought I'd let you know I got a good chuckle out of Thomas today! I decided to start changing his clothes and diapers on the floor when I'm home and then when I get done practice rolling over since he's sort of "stuck" - thought that would be a good time to practice, then he's happy and not angry. Well, I did it before his bath and then turned his top leg over the other (turned his hips), he knew what to do he just gives up to easily. He started laughing - he put his arm up and dropped it back - I sort of moved his arm back over and he pulled himself over with his strong tummy muscles! I did it again after his bath when I dressed him, I've made it sort of a game and he likes it. I think he'll have it in a day or two! I'm just glad he thinks its fun this way! Thanks again for your responses!!

I had to chuckle when I read this because my 4th child, my daughter, did this as well. She did not turn over until really late! My boys both walked at 10 1/2 months and my daughter didn't even start crawling until 10 months! Then she started to roll over, but still wasn't very good at until she was walking at a year old.

He'll get it, eventually.

All babies are different and won't do every "trick" that is out there. I think he will be fine and I would concentrate on assisting him with walking at this point.

J., most likely he will do this. You may want to try putting him on the floor and playing with him. You could start with him on his back and you on your back and show him how to turn over in an exaggerated manner. After a few times of this, you could gently move his arms and legs and show him how to do it. If you did this with him a few minutes each day, I suspect he'll figure it out within a couple of weeks.

D. S, who did this with one of her babies.

You should have your son evaluated by a physician as soon as possible. There are many physical reasons that could prevent your son from being able to roll over. While every child progresses at a different speed and this could be just your son's natural timing, at 10 months old I would want to know that there were no (spinal, muscular, autism, ect.)problems holding him back. We were told with my grandson that there could be problems because he went without oxygen for almost five minutes during childbirth. We were also told that if he wasn't rolling over by the time he was six months old, we should have hime checked out. The previous posters could be right, but better safe....
Let us know how things turn out.

God bless you and yours,

Hang in there...he'll eventually have more motor skills and be able to roll over....at least you dont have to worry about him rolling off the bed and bumping his head. My boy did when he was a baby...pretty scary.

Na, really, hang in there, it will get much better. He sounds so adorable.
