My neighbor does portraits and such as a side business... I could put you in touch with her if you would like to go that route. Her pricing is really resonable and the photos come out great! We had our son's first yr photos done at the mall (the picture people) and they were okay, but really pricey and staged. They were good with kids, but overall, I think a private photographer will do a better job.
May I recommend Caitlin Domanico photography? I have never used her (yet) for photos, but I went to high school with her and have only heard WONDERFUL things from her and her clients. I support her business 100%. She is willing to come to you or a location of your choice to do the photos. She really captures the true essence of your child...something you will always cherish. We had our son's first year pics taken at Target and they came out surprisingly well. And it was cheap. Well under $100 for a large package. You get to see the pictures right after they take them and decide which ones you want. You can get embellishments and they can do a variety of arrangements for a good price. And they came back within about 2 weeks.
