I have a five week old boy.Everytime we put him down for sleeping he wakes up right away or sleeps a little bit then wakes up crying. We try not to let him sleep on us but sometimes we are just so tired and we let it happen.I tried other things like putting my shirt i wore in crib, swadddling him and making the crib smaller.Does anyone have anymore ideas.Im going back to work next week so its going to be alot harder.

What can I do next?

If you have an infant carrier for a car seat and he likes it put him in it inside his crib bundled up. That is the only way my daughter would sleep until she was about 5 months old. I started weaning her of sleeping in it only because I knew at 6 months she would be too big for it.
Do not worry about him only being 5 weeks old and sleeping on you. You can not spoil him at this young age. Now when he is about 6 months old yes you can.
Enjoy him while you can they grow up so fast.

sleep with baby. hes been inside you for 9 months, he wants to be with you still for comfort. you will get much more sleep and if you are breastfeeding you can doze off while hes nursing.

At first only like a bouncer or the swing would help sleep try one instead of the crib. Now she doesn't like them and perfers the crib.

You're baby is in his 4th trimester. He is not used to being outside of you yet.
Hold him , rock him , co sleep , do what ever you have to to get him to sleep.
You can not spoil an infant. I have two kids and the one I coslept with is more independent than the one I did not co sleep with.

If you don't have a bassinett, try putting him down in a laundry basket.
It's unconventional, but babies like to feel "enclosed" at that stage. That's why we have bassinets, and the crib probably feels huge to him.

I'd fold a bedsheet to line the bottom of the basket, and try putting him down in there for the night, swaddled
.
You could even put that IN the crib, so it's not on the floor.

My DD spent her first 5 weeks in the bassinet attachment for our stroller...inside her crib (it detached, of course).

Common sense is at such a low point in our society that no wonder you are having a tough time. If you are nursing you should have a tiny extention on your bed for him to sleep in. Otherwise put a bassinet next to you. He's been in a tight space, your womb listening to your heartbeat. What makes him happy is to hear you next to him or very close. Wait until he's four or five months to put him in the crib and in your room not a separate room.
Now go cuddle your favorite little one as much as possible.

Could be reflux. How does he do in an upright position when sleeping? If you lay him flat and all this happens but if he's more upright then I think reflux. Try elevating the head of his matress. Also you cannot spoil a child this young. If he sleeps better on you then let it he probably feels safe and secure in your arms and alone in a huge empty crib.

Find warm sheets for the crib, One step ahead has microfiber ones. Use a heating pad to warm the bed before you place him in it, take it out before you lay him down. Sound machine with heart beat sounds, or a white noise function. Take it easy and relax. I am sure you are doing fine.
