Hello!
I have a gorgeous 22 month old son and I would like to maybe get him into baby modeling. Or at least try it out and see if he would enjoy it. He is a ham for the camera and has striking light blue eyes. He's very outgoing and personable. Does anyone know how I would start? There are so many companies out there that I've heard are scams and cost a lot of money up front. Does anyone have a suggestion? Thanks!! :)

Hi L.,
Just wanted to respond and advise you to be very careful. I was interested in doing something similar and was fortunate enough to have a friend with a son who is a model/actor. Their agent/agency advised that if any of the "modeling agencies" require a fee from you or that you need to have professional photos or use their photographer then RUN RUN RUN.
Agencies representing children prefer candid vs professional shots and there is absolutely no requirement that you use their photographer -that is where they make A LOT of money.
If you do sign with an agency, they will require a contract and then they get a percentage of whatever job they send your child on-that is legitimate and how good agencies operate.
Good luck, do your homework and hopefully you have a future star on your hands.

we do not charge any fee except a 10% agency fee that's after child has been used and paid.
I am also wondering about this. Heard a number on the radio today for Christmas catalog models. Might check that out. Everyone tells you that you baby is so cute and needs to model. I just have no idea where to start and I know a lot of places out there are scams and cost a lot of money to get started with!
Try Elizabeth Savage Model and Talent in Scottsdale...the owner is a personal friend and has been in the valley YEARS.
Try http://www.movieworknow.com/ they are a local company, and a big one too.
Good luck!
The only way to get out there is to get him an agent. There are a few in town.
My son Lucas is represented by Elizabeth Savage Talent Agency and while you do have to have professional headshots done (you do NOT have to use their photographer, you can go elsewhere if you find a better deal) that is becoming the norm in the industry now...even for babies! It used to be that all agencies used candid photos that parent's gave the company, but think of what a mess and headache that would cause. The agency would send over pictures in an envelope to the casting director and the pictures are never returned (which is normal) so they need a ton of copies of this one candid photo you took of your child. If it wasn't digital, you just hope the negative was kept...its just too easy to lose it all. When you have pro. headshots done, you get a disc that you hand over to the company with your photos on it (or if you use their photographer, who is GREAT and cheap, he gives it to them and you can have one too, if you want) and they keep them all in a file and just send the photos to casting directors for you so you're not trying to remember to bring photos with you wherever you go!
I highly recommend EST....I have had a lot of luck with them and they are all very friendly and nice!
Good Luck!
Go to www.dex.com and put in modeling agencies in Phoenix AZ this will bring up the modeling agencies in and around Phoenix. The best advise I can give you is call and find out the price and then go tour the facility to see if you like it. Best Wishes in this adventure.

I took my daughter to Elizabeth Savage and paid the $195 fee for photos. That was June 8th and the photos are still not in yet. Wish I would have known the advice to not pay for photos. May look into other agencies. Good luck.
Yes please take the advice and never pay for photos. In the real world of modeling they will pay you, not you them. But I have friends from church who have been in modeling since they were young. They always tell me to get my son into modeling, however depending on the agency's needs your child may or may not be what they are looking for at the time. The 3 companies that are legit here that I do know of are Leighton Agency, Signature, and Robert Black/Ford. Just look them up either on the net or in the phone book. It is a very hard market to get into but you never know your son may make it in. Wish you well!
