Do any of you know of a good baby lotion for my 14 month old? She has very sensitive, but dry skin. Something without any perfumes in it. I typically use Johnson's Baby lotion in the pink bottle, but that just doesn't seem to cut it.
Thank you to all that have responded. I have tried the Johnson's bedtime with lavender as well and she's sensitive to that too. I found a sample of Eucerin Aquafor in my closet and that seems to be working really well so far. I think I'll buy that or try the Aveeno because I've heard lots of good things from them too.
I went and bought Aveeno cream for babies and it's working great! Thank you again to all who have responded.

Hi J.,
We had a similar problem but with with rashes that would accompany the dry skin. We used Steven's Creme and she looks like a newborn again. She is 21 months now and we keep using it every night. I liked the Aveeno too but this got better results for her at just a little higher price. It's $10 an 8 ounce tube.

I agree with previous posters that coconut oil and olive oil are great for a baby's sensitive skin. Try to stay away from petroleum products, chemical additives, preservatives, and fragrances (as you noted).
Hi J.! Try Aquaphor, it works great for kids' sensitive skin. My daughter has very sensitive skin also, and that's what I use.

Hi J.,
I just joined Mamasource today and came across your question. My daughter has very sensitive, dry skin as well. My doctor has me using Cetaphil cream which you can get at any drugstore or CostCo. Costco seems to have the better price and you usually get the bigger bottle. It's helped her so much and she's stopped scratching completely. I was using Aveeno but it didn't help as much and Cetaphil did. I hope that helps.

Arbonne has baby lotion that is all natural and botanical with no added fragrances, dyes, petroleum, or mineral oil in it. When you use a lotion with mineral oil in it it acts like seran wrap on your baby's skin and doesn't allow moisture in and also does not allow toxins to go out. Same with shampoos and baby oil and even desitin. Most brands all have fake fragrances and mineral oil and/or petroleum in them. So I look at all my labels and make sure only plant and fruit oils are used. Arbonne is great. If interested let me know.

I use Eucerin. It comes in a tub and it is dermatologist recommended. It's very thick. I put it on my daughter right after her bath when her skin is still damp and it keeps her skin so soft! She used to have really dry, sensitive skin but not since I have been using this. The pink stuff is no good for anything but that good baby smell :)

Hi. When my children have dry skin I use Johnson & Johnson with lavender (night time) and Aveeno. Aveeno has been around for years and years. You can get Aveeno Baby with sensitive skin. Aveeno is also made by Johnson & Johnson. I use Aveeno and Johnson & Johnson for my 5 year old, 2 year old, my husband uses it, and I do as well. You can find it in the baby sections of any department store such as Walmart, Target, etc.
I hope this helps.

My son has fair skin and our pediatrian told us to use something like Dove or cetaphil to wash him. We then use Curel for his lotion, or Lubriderm. We were told that the baby lotions actually dry out his skin faster.
You can also use the store brand of their "cetaphil". It is so much cheaper.

My little boy had the same problem. He'd break out from all the perfumes and stuff in the baby lotion (they smell like baby lotion because they're all scented). My doctor told me to bag the baby products and use the Dove unscented soap and the Cetaphil lotion on him. I haven't had any skin related problems since we switched. There's also a great product you can buy from Arbonne (at www.Arbonne.com). They have a great baby line. It's kind of expensive but I just love it!! Now that my son is a little older, I use that and I think it's worth the money (especially the shampoo/soap, diaper rash cream and body lotion). Hope this helps a little.

I always used Aveeno baby when my kids were babies. My oldest has bad allergies and asthma so he also gets really bad eczema. After every bath when he is still damp we smother him with Aquaphor (a product of Eucerin). It is kind of expensive but it works great. If your baby's skin only gets bad at certain times of the year you could consider using the Aveeno on those days that aren't bad, and use the Aquaphor when it gets worse. Aquaphor feels like vaseline, but isn't greasy. Try it, we won't use anything else!!!

Completely hypoallergencic and fragrance free, it never bothered their skin and it even helped prevent diaper rash! They are toddlers now and I still use it. It's a little more expense than the other brands, but definitely worth it.

My oldest had horrible eczema when she was a baby. I tried just about everything, but what I found that worked the best for her is called Renew. It is manufactured by Melaleuca, Inc. and you have to be a member to buy it, but it is well worth it. If you find some other things they make that you would like to use and agree to buy from them every month, you get a significant discount.
When looking for something that will heal dry skin, you want to make sure you are using a humectant that attracts and holds moisture to the skin. Honey and glycerine are both natural humectants. To keep that moisture from evaporating, an oil is useful. Oils on their own, do not moisturize because, even though they are liquids, they do not have any water (moisture) in them. Coconut oil might help to hold existing moisture in, but it won't moisturize the skin without help.
