My 3 month old absolutely hates getting a bath. He screams like the world is ending. My 1 year old has always loved baths so I have never had to deal with this. Does anyone know what I could do do make bath time a little easier on me and my little boy. I use one of those little baths that the baby sits in a little sling, I have also tried to use the sink and the tub (keeping most his body submerged in water at all times) I just don't know what to do now. If some one has any advice it would be a life saver!!!!

What can I do next?

C.,

I make a little bath and get in the bath with my little girl. She is almost five months and getting closer to being able to support herself. I find is easier to support her when I'm in there and less stressful than bending over the side of the tub. She loves it.

I'm another mom who takes a bath with my baby (#4 right now). I got rid of the baby bathtub a while back because after my first baby, I never really used it again. Another thing that helps with a fussy baby is to nurse in the bath. That always helped my fussiest baby. I love baths with my little one, and she loves it too. My husband usually helps with the in and out of the tub part, which is great. Hope you'll give it a try!

Hi there,

I am a mother of three. My last child was nothing like her siblings who LOVED bath time. She, like yours from the beginning, hated bath time. She especially hated to have her face & head get wet. I found she did best if I got into the bath with her. She seemed to be comforted by my presence with her in the water. I also found see did better if the water was just barely warm.
We did this until about 2. Now she is three & is still very particular about getting her head wet. She is very independant and has to lay her head back in a shallow tub to rinse her hair (I add conditioner to her shampoo so that we only go through this process once). She still will not go down the slides at the YMCA because she doesn't want her face to get splashed.
So, this is so strange, but I have learned that all children really are different, even siblings. They are such a blessing & we need to always be changing how we parent & interact w/ each child as they have different needs.
I hope this helps,
Adienne

I used to take baths with my daughter and lay her on my legs with my knees up. It was a little tricky since we were both wet and slippery but you could even lay a hand towel over your legs to keep him from slidding. I also think I started out with the water too cold because I didnt want it to be to hot for her but just a tiny warmer did the trick.
