I have a cold...now my 6 week old baby girl has cold. I know colds have to run their course so should I call her pediatrician? She is nursing fine and sleeping a lot, she's just really congested and sneezing. An older kid I wouldn't worry about but she's so young.
Thanks Moms!

Don't bother calling pedi as long as she is eating fine and doesn't spike a fever. Use a humidifier to loosen congestion. Hope it passes quickly!

if she's not changed her routine - and getting fussy - then I wouldn't call my pediatrician...if she gets a fever i would call.

Congestion and sneezing...awww poor thing - I know that!! I hope she is better soon!!

CONGRATULATIONS on your baby girl!

It never hurts to call your pediatrician. If it's a good practice (and this may be the test), the nurse will answer your questions lovingly and give you good advice. Don't be shy -- all moms do this. (If this doesn't happen, I suggest looking elsewhere once your baby is better.) P.S. My sister is a neo-natal nurse, and I would call her when mine was little. And she would give me advice but would also say, don't be afraid to call your pediatrician. We spend more time wondering if we should call, then just calling. That is what the nurses are there for.

I wouldn't call quite yet either, esp since she is nursing fine and sleeping well. Get a humidifier for the house or her room to loosen up congestion. Hopefully she can get over this quickly. Keep an eye on her temperature.

I'd say if she runs a high fever, has difficulty breathing, or starts coughing or otherwise acting strange or lethargic that's the time to call. Other than that, just wait it out.
