Sooo... I asked a question the other day about making my baby's food, and was directed to wholesomebabyfood.com. Awesome site mommas, has almost all the info I needed!! Now the only thing I need to know is what foods will stop her up, and what foods will help her go. I don't want to accidentally feed her a bunch of food that will plug her up... or vice-versa. I am still in the process of introducing foods, so it has been easy to regulate her digestive system. She just gets bananas for breakfast one day, prunes the next, and then whatever veggie I am introducing that week for dinner. But as I introduce more, I will want to vary what she is getting... sooo.... I guess what I want is a list of common fruits and veggies (I'm going to wait on meats), and whether they will make her go, stop her up, or fairly neutral. Thanks mommas!

My pediatrician told me that , genereally, if it begins with "p" - it means poop. So peaches, pears, plums, prunes, etc. and I have found this to be true.
For binding them up: I go by the BRAT method: bananas, rice, applesauce and toast. Also, cheese and any really starchy stuff.
Other than that, I go by what the food does to me.
Have fun!

My third is 10 months old. I started him on solids at 7 1/2 months---before that he was exclusively breastfed.
My doctor has always recommended that I just take what we eat and mash it up---salt, pepper, butter and all. I mostly eat sushi or other food not approprate for babies, so that concept does not work with me.
Here is my boys diet in order of introduction, hope it helps.
Yam, sweet potato, spinach, banana (binding), pear (loosing), squash, beets, mango, old fashioned Scottish oatmeal cooked with apple and whole milk, avocado (he loves it mixed with cooked egg yolk), beets, pumpkin, onion, mushroom, peaches, plums, Greek yogurt, edamame, kiwi, green beans, peas.
I think you get the point. I make everything myself---just steam it and mash it with a fork or use a potato masher. Good luck,

I pretty much followed wholesomebabyfood to the letter of what to introduce when and my son never had any digestive problems at all. Esp. when they are eating soo many veggies during that early stage my son was very "regular" but not with an upset stomach. Good luck.

I can't remember if said you breastfed, or are still breastfeeding? I breastfed, and made my own babyfood, using my milk as a thinner. I continued to breastfeed and offer breastmilk in a cup till my babies were over a year. I never had any problems with poop! They were never constipated, and never runny! Breastmilk does a great job regulating the system!
