How long can I keep my baby/toddler on baby food? He doesn't seem to like adult food yet! We have tried all sorts of combinations but I don't think his pallet is ready for the different textures.

Some toddlers are very sensitive to new textues and will gag or turn away from it. You could start out slow and try the puffs, cheerios, advacado pieces, banana pieces, tofu pieces-etc. stuff that is still pretty mushy and easy to swallow and go from there. He'll be fine on baby food until he gets better at new textures. I would just continue to give him a soft food to try at every meal until he gets used to it.

My boys started table foodnear a year I believe - like 8-9 months I think. My oldest boy though ate the baby food oatmeal with a jar of baby food fruit swirled in every morning for breakfast until he was 2 1/2. He's always been the type of kid who, when he gets hungry, he gets hungry and can't seem to fill up fast enough. (He's 7 now and is still the same way) So, with table food, he'd get frustrated if he was super hungry. With him, I kind of started lessening the baby food amout I'd give him at meals. For example, instead of a full jar, I'd give a half jar. Just enough to take the edge of his hunger off. Then, give him the table food. I hear most people say to give them table food when they are hungry and they are more likely to eat it, but my son was the exact opposite. He was more receptive to it when he wasn't starving. I never bothered with the stage 3 jar foods. Those always seemed to make him gag. We went straight from stage 2 to table food.

I say just give him an In and Out burger and let him go to town ;-) Just kidding. I sure hope this is my bestie, or I will feel really bad right now. I thought he was getting a little better with that. I miss you!

How old is the little guy? I think I started "real" food near a year - they have sensitive digestive systems. You might want to check out the "what to expect the first year" book re. that. They have the different stages of food consistency, so you can try those, or try to approximate them with home cooked food. Good luck! :)
