I've caught a bad case of baby fever. I'm not ready to have another yet, my daughter is almost 5, but I want something to keep my mind busy. All I can think about is babies!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

We have a puppy and I just convinced my husband to let me foster another dog for a few months. I think for now I'll hold babies and offer to babysit. Having a baby for a few hours is a lot different than having one for 18 years!

If you want something to have and hold, then adopt a puppy.

If its just that you like buying things, I belong to a military support group called Soldier's Angels. We have a subgroup called Operation Top Knot. We provide snail mail baby showers for expectant moms who are or their spouse is deployed.

How about volunteering in the nursery at your church or at a local preschool? That way you get to be AROUND kids, without having your own and you enjoy having a child who's a little older and a little more independent.

Focus on others. That always takes the focus off of self. :-)

Get yourself a little kitten or puppy...

I agree with adopting a pet. They are closely related to children in their actions/behaviors, and it would be something fun for you and your daughter to do together as a family. It also teaches your child respnsibility.

My daughteres are 4.5, and i've always sworn that I will not have any more kids... almost took care of it permanently about three months ago, but was too busy with vacation etc. Now, I keep thinking about a baby - how my girls would be great big-sisters, etc., and then I thought about the cons: taking two to kindergarden and one to the sitter, getting up by myself at night (hubby works 3rd shift), colds, fevers, bottles, baby food. Well, for now, the cons have settled my thoughts, but I don't feel that they will for long. Maybe its the weather!! However, I do not feel that volunteering or getting a puppy would solve the recurring thoughts. Baby's are yours, puppys and volunterring are completely different. Good luck...

Have you thought about volunteering to care for babies at your church? That might help slow down your desires. :)
