Why don't you get her a tattoo while you're at it. How do you know that she will want her ears pierced? I am appalled whenever I see a young child with earrings, it's so tacky. I hope you'll reconsider.
i know alot of people cringe at the thought of seeing a new born with ear rings, but i just feel it is better to get it done when she is so little that its not a play thing to her. i really want to get my little ones ears pirced before she is three months (doc said it was better earlyer) but im not sure where to go, any suggestions of a nice clean place would be really helpful. I dont want to take her to Clairs and have some high schooler chewing bubble gum sticking a needle tho my infants ears. Im looking for somewhere that has very trained people at doing babies ears. If you have any places in mind or any stories about your own adventures with this topic i would love to get imput. thank you all!
(as for the tatto comment, maybe when she is six **insert rolling eyes here**)
well i called up my pediatrictian after many negative comments and email about pircing MY babies ears. (my only responce is i was not asking your moral beleifs i was asking other mothers who has gotten their childs ears pirced where they had it done so the rudeness was not needed because she is MY child and i WANT it done)so anyways... my babies doctor said they do it right there in the doctors office!! I was so excited so little miss brooklyn is going in to have her ears done in tuesday. i suggest if you are looking to get it done ask your babies doctor first. If they dont do it and you want a doctor (which is a lisence medical provider with a doctorite who says pircing a babies ears is just fine) email me and i will give you the number to our office! Thank you for the comments about where you guys went and who it was i really apperciated it!

My daughter had her daughter's ears pierced while she was a few weeks old. I think that it is good to do it before she begins playing with her ears. I felt uncomfortable about her doing it but I am quite comfortable about it now that I've had the experience.
She had it done at a store that sold cosmetics in the Lloyd Center but I think they're no longer their. We went in and talked with them about doing it before having them do it. All of the clerks were middle aged and the one that actually pierced her ears talked in such a way that we felt comfortable having her do it. She showed us the work station and explained how she would do it. The place looked clean and we saw that she used sanitary measures. She was also a warm grandmotherly sort which was reassuring to my daughter. My granddaughter didn't even cry.
Actually no one sticks a needle through the ear. The earring and back are inserted directly into a gun straight from the package. They're not touched by hands at all.
The only problem that my daughter had with the pierced ear rings is that when my granddaughter was older she did manage to lose them by rubbing her head on her pillow or tossing around. She does have eczema and itched alot and so maybe she wouldn't have had the problem otherwise.
My daughter ended up leaving the earrings out for a few months a couple of different times and the holes closed without leaving much if any of a scar. And then when she was around 2 she had them pierced again and they have stayed pierced even tho she doesn't always wear earrings. They were cute both when she was a baby and now when she is 6. The only thing that I've noticed is that her ear lobes seem to stick out more than usual. Bit even that is not obvious. I think it's because the posts were too long and kept the lobes out as they grew. I think it would be best to stick with earrings designed specifically for babies even when she's a toddler.
And if she doesn't want to wear earrings when she's older all she has to do is take them out and the holes will close up. I did that myself as an adult. There was a very small mark that wasn't noticeable at all except when you were looking for it. I then pierced my ears again and have had no difficulty.
Good luck with that procedure. I know from experience that it can be okay, but just make sure they stay clean.
I have an 8 yr old daughter and got her ears pierced at 3 days old. She cried for about 30 seconds and forgot all about it. No problem with infection at all, just make sure you buy either sterling/gold/or nickle free and get the kind with the screw on backs. I had a friend who owned a salon so I got lucky because I think the law requires the child to be at least 6 months old. Not sure where you can go but if you do find a good place then you should have no worries... Good Luck!!
I just went to Milano to get my 3 year olds ears done and they were great. They are in milwaukie.

K. isn't asking for your opinion, she is asking for adventures and suggestions on where to take her daughter. To each their own. If you take care of the babies ears, the infection rate is very very slim.
Don't be so judgemental, baby ear piercing is in some peoples culture. And not just in the ears!
Good luck K.!
