Baby Chewing up Crib

My baby is biting on his crib and eating the paint off. We now have him in a porta-crib which I don't feel comfortable with leaving him in it for long. It doesn't seem safe as a full time bed. Anyway, I'm without a vehicle to drive down to babies R Us to check but when I call, there is no answer. I thought I'd check with you since it may be a couple days before I can drive to Babies R Us. Anyway, I wondered if you know if their beds are safe without lead. I'm assuming they're safe but you can't really be sure now a days. Are there bumper pads or plastic pieces to put on the top rail to prevent babies from chewing on the railing? Any advice? I'd hate to have to buy a new crib and I'd at least need to buy a new porta crib since I don't like the one we have outside of naps when we're out and about. Thank you so much!

Why dont you sew up a long strip of fabric with a little batting in it for padding and sew strings on it and tie it to the railing so he is biting that instead? It would be easy to make and fun. So many different materials you could use. Then you wouldnt have to worry about him biting on it.
He may just be teething.

There are several different things to protect the sides of the crib. I posted a couple links to different product sold at Babies R Us. I personally used the Gummi stuff and it worked great for my crib chewer! Good luck

Both of my kids did the same. We have a Prince Lionheart gummie crib rail on our 18 month olds bed right now. Bought it at Babies R Us. It's been on there for over a year and it still on good and strong!
