Does anyone know of a safe and effective way to get rid of baby acne. This is my 3rd child and all 3 of mine have had it. I know it has to be itchy and it looks so horrible, I hate having them go through it. I know eventually it goes away, but I would really like it to go away faster. Please let me know what has worked for you!

Thank you!

So What Happened?

Thanks to everyone for the advice and responses. I ended up going with the last bit of advice. I wash her face 2-3 times/day and use aveeno lotion and her acne has almost cleared up, she looks so much better. I can tell its not itching as much either. Thanks again!

First of all, congrats on your new baby! Mine just turned 9 weeks and she is absolutely amazing. She too is going through a rough case of baby acne as well. I would recommend some products by Aveeno. They have the lotion and the mild baby soap as well for bath time. I noticed the Johnson's products actually irritated her skin more, and ever since we switched her face is progressively clearing up. Hope it helps!

My first daughter had it very bad and a very long time. It even scared her face. I broke open vitamin E caplets and rubbed vitamin E on her face. It seamed to work but not sure if maybe just a coincidence because it had already been awhile. Could have been just going away on it's own.
My second daughter had it but not at all as bad. I just wiped her face with a washcloth a couple times a day to wipe away any oils from our face that maybe had transferred over when we would love on her. This seamed to work. It appeared like hers would worsen when we touched her face a lot w/ours.

Hi R.! Congrats on the newbie!!! I used just regular j&j (yellow bottle)baby shampoo on my son and daughters face. just gently wash 2-3x daily then follow up with a good lotion like aveeno. that worked for me in about 3-5 days with BOTH of my kids. GOOD LUCK!!!!

My 3rd child had really bad baby acne too. I breastfeed and I realized the problem was the soap I was using. So I switched to a hypoallergenic soap for me and regular baby products for him. Even if you aren't nursing that may still be a lot of the problem if you give lots of kisses. Try switching your face soap. Plus, she's still little and has a lot of your hormones still running through her system. Just wash her face like the other mom suggested and maybe change your soap until the problem goes away. Then switch back to your regular soap. If it starts again, you've found the problem. Good luck!

I use Arbonne products. They are pure, safe, and beneficial. No harmful ingredients, chemicals, dyes, or fragrances. I have seen it work wonders for baby eczema, so I'm sure it would help the acne, too. Call me at ###-###-####. Check them out at www.arbonne.com. Best wishes! Congratulations on the birth of your new baby! R. Helms

Both my girls had mild cases, but it drove me nuts. On the advice of my pediatrician I bought some plain old saline nasal spray and applied it with a cotton ball twice a day, like an astrigent. It cleared up in a day or two.

Gently cleanse his face once a day with water, and perhaps a mild baby soap. Oils and lotions do not help, and may aggravate the condition. If the acne is severe or lasts beyond 6 months, your pediatrician may prescribe a mild medicine to help.

Otherwise, you can expect that the rash will soon be a memory. The oil glands will disappear, and you won't see the acne again until you turn around once, and he's a teenager. This time the acne will be evidence that his own hormones are turning him into a man.
