Baby - Fleming Island,FL

At 26 weeks I know that the baby has less and less space, but i've had 2 boys and things are soo different. I know they say every baby is different and all and trust me I've been milking that theory this whole pregnancy (lol), but I wonder if I should start looking into my problems more.
Well I'm way bigger than I ever was with the boys, but the doctor told me that it was normal because I've had kids and my muscles still have (memory) of where they were so it's ok that I'm alittle bigger. So I pushed that off, plus my ultrasound was on point for the date of gestation. Then, I've had serious trouble sleeping because she kicks non stop day or night (especially at night) but I heard that was normal so I've kinda pushed that off. The worst of it now is that I've had severe back pains since yesterday evening. I've tried having my SO massage my back, rub it, put a warm rag on it, heat wrap (or Icy hot patch) I've even tried getting on my knees on the bed and rocking nothing helps. Along with that I've felt internal stretching and the bottom of my stomach, and she still kicks continuously.
I'm just worried about her coming too early, as bad as I want her here I want her to be healthy and able to come home with me after she's born not be in the NICU. I just want reassurance that everythings ok or should I actually see if somethings wrong.

What can I do next?

I would certainly give the doc's office a call given that you are describing "severe" pain.

If everything checks out fine as far as your ob is concerned discuss prenatal physical therapy and see about getting a referral. I have a friend that is currently 9 months pregnant and she has been seeing a PT for some time now and it has helped with her pregnancy pains.

So far so good. When is the next dr appointment? Make sure you tell them what your concerns are. And yes with each pregnancy we tend to adjust to that growing baby in different ways and seem bigger then before. I am due in a week with number 6 and this little guy is making the tums people very happy!
Good Luck!

I'd definitely recommend seeing your OB if the back pain is not going away since this can be a sign of preterm labor. Hopefully, they'll find that everything is fine but you don't want to take that risk. I started going into preterm labor with my first pregnancy at 24 weeks. Back pain was one of the symptoms I had although not as bad as you are describing. I went to the doctor right away when I noticed this and other symptoms and (thankfully) they were able to stop it and he wasn't born early. I'm not trying to scare you but I think in this case, its better to play it safe and get it checked out. Hope everything goes well!!

I was a lot more uncomfortable 3rd time round , my bump showed from 10 weeks and got big really quickly , by 30 weeks it slowed down and weight gain/growth was normal. If you have any concerns especially with the stretching sensation then go and see your OB to check you out , that is what they are there for. Also remember that you are busy with 2 kids to already take care of , all that makes for different aches and pains.

Good luck

Every pregnancy is different. Every baby in the womb moves differently, at different times, different intensities. Every woman has a different pregnancy, no matter how many children she has had. I know, I'm pregnant with my 4th. The back pain you are describing is normal as well. Ask your doctor, I'm sure he/she will say so. I had severe back pain with my third child. It was on my right side, about where my ribs are and spanned across my back and down my lower back. At times it was so bad, I had to lie down on my left side just to feel relief. Fast forward and I'm pregnant with the fourth and about the time of Thanksgiving is when my back pain began and it was the same kind of pain I experienced with my third. I've seen a Chiropractor twice so far since I've gotten pregnant, once when I first found out and again about a week after the pain began. I have not had any pain since. I'm going back again in a week or so. I would suggest you see a Chiropractor. My Chiropractor told me that back adjustments will make a world difference with the back pain. And he was right!

The internal stretching you feel in your lower abdomen also sounds like what I have been feeling. Your uterine ligaments, muscles are stretching. Your doctor should also confirm that this is normal. I've experienced it with 3 pregnancies.

So, do not be worried about something that has no reason to be worried about.

I would call your Dr. I always had a TON of contractions early and they got more with each child, but I never had real back pain like you are describing. If you don't want to call the Dr. yet, try taking a bath and drinking a ton of water first, that always helped slow mine or stop them sometimes. Good Luck.

Severe backpain could be a problem, a sign of labor. I would call the docs office and see what they say about it. My belly has gotten bigger with each one, and each baby has been bigger. Sounds normal, besides the back pain. She doesnt have a good chance of surviving if shes born now. Good lucK!
