Hi,

I am looking for feedback on the average rate for experienced Nannies vs. Daycare Centers in the Streamwood/Schaumburg IL area. The coverage would be Mon-Fri, 7:30am - 4:30pm watching 2y/o Twins.

We are looking into possibly putting the kids in Daycare so we thought we would poll the experts on feedback and cost comparisons. Thanks in advance for your feedback!

We used to live in Streamwood and we took our kids to a daycare (Bright Horizons) in Schaumburg, near Woodfield. We paid roughly $1200 a month for the 2 year old room. When our daughter was born and we had two, we were paying around $2,700 at this day care per month - crazy! I know the Goddard School that is also in Schaumburg had rates very similar to Bright Horizons because our niece went there. We switched daycares when we moved out of Streamwood to one in Arlington Heights, and we pay about $2300 for two kids now (2 year old room and pre-K room). The day care we are at now has a sibling discount, which our old one did not. IT makes a big difference. We've looked into getting a nanny and found it would likely be a minimum of $2,000 per month. We've actually just signed up with an au pair service. Our au pair arrives in August and we will end up paying around $1,300 a month, plus providing her room and board. I wish we had looked into this option sooner, because we have been paying so much for day care for so many years now! Good luck!

My daughter has been in daycare since she was an infant and her daycare center starts at $250 for an infant and goes down by $10 for each year after 2 years old. There is a 10% discount for multiple children. So you would be paying just under $400 a week at the center we go to.

My kids are in daycare (4 and 1.5) and for both the total per week is 418.00 - that is considering my son is part time as he is in afternoon preschool. Although that is in Crystal Lake - it's really only about 20 miles from where you are looking for rates. Honestly - may be a little more expensive in Schaumburg/Streamwood area than where we are.......

I used an in-home licensed daycare in Carol Stream run by two sisters who used to work at Kindercare. I would highly recommend them. My kids are 9 and 6 now so it has been awhile. But it is definitely more reasonable than the other places mentioned. Klaudia and Kathy, phone ###-###-#### or ____@____.com
