All school districts have early intervention programs. Where does he
fall on "autistic" spectrum? When was he diagnosed? I would not pick
up and move right now because of this. What you think is not a good
district, someone else might rave about it. Do your homework before
you make any decisions.

Ardsley. They have a fantastic parent advocacy group: SEPTA. Contact ____@____.com to get on their mailing list.

Hi Gabriella,

We have been receiving services for two years now. Eastechester is very generous in giving the services. But THE MOST important thing to not forget is to fight for your childs needs and get the right services. My experience is that no matter where you go it is most up to you to convince the district that YOUR Plan is the best. To be able to do that you need to know your options and if possible be suppprted by your therapists that you already are working with. İf you are looking for schools different schools serves different level special needs kids. And you don't need to live in that town to send you son. Anywhere in Westcester your son can be bussed. İ hear Ardsley is known to be good both with giving services and sachooling. You will hear different names from other parents, but don't forget everybody likes or dislikes for their own needs which could be a bit different from what your son needs. İ have been told to avoid Scarsdale for sure! Did not hear anything good about it. White Plains is the other one to stay out. Chappaqua or Pleasantville is known to be generous. Also Larchmont may be the area to avoid too.
İ am verry sorry that you are going through this very difficult process. But day by day, the more you learn about how to help him achieve his best you will find your way. And being supported with faimiles who are in the same boat definetely helps a lot!!
Good luck!

I don't know your area at all, by every area across the U.S has a Regional Center. Find the Regional Center closest to you which does free evaluations and therapy for families that qualify. It's a federally funded program and historically was very generous with their funding, although this economy has taken a nosedive. But check it out. They will also have referrals for schools, early intervention programs. If you qualify for services, which I did here in L.A, then they will help fund the early intervention program. Also, I know there are website and tons of organizations that support families with an Autistic child. Good Luck!
