At Home High Lighting Kit for Hair?

About 2-3 yrs ago, I bought one of those kits that come in the box from Target or Walmart. It came with this plastic cap thing that would cover the whole head, and then you would take the stick thing and pull out the strands you wanted highlighted through the holes in the cap. It turned out great, and now I want to do it again, but can't find the box in the stores anymore. Anyone know who makes it? It would be easier to find if I knew the brand name or if I knew it, I could also call the mnfgr to see if it's still made.

What can I do next?

You can find them anywhere. The problem is that you have no idea if it will work again. I have been a colorist for 10+ years and have to admit, I have seen some nice hilites come outta boxes, but its kind of a chance you will have to take and hope it works out or you are looking at having it professionally corrected for a significant amount of money.
I am offering 20% off my services in the month of July if you happen to be near Vadnais Heights. Its a bit pricier but you know what you are going to get in the end.
Good luck and if you have any questions, contact me.

im a hairdresser and if you want to highlight at home i have to be honest, one bleaching kit from walmart is the same as another. if you can get to a sally's beauty supply it is open to the public and you will find all supplies needed at a reasonable price.

Good morning and happy 4th! I am a cosmetologist and I recommend if you have a sally beauty supply store go there and ask for help on what to get. My favorite that I use over the counter is from there. Kelidocolor bleach and with the developer. Please be careful with some of the store brands because they can be more damaging than healthy for your hair. Some of the otc products are made from the "bottom of the barrel" color. Just like when the gas truck is loading the gas at a station and it stirs up all the goo at the bottom and you should'nt fill up then, that is the same with hair color,well some of them.
Some hairstylists may or may not agree with recommending hair products outside of a salon but why not! We all take short cuts now a days, Like cell phones we lived without them once and now we feel naked if we leave home without them...

Always high-light my hair at home using the same kind of kits. I always buy them at Walmart or Target and the brand that I usually end up using is Loreal or Revlon but they are pretty much all the same. I would be shocked if your local stores weren't stocking them.

hairstylist 15yrs and mother of twins. You also need to take in consideration if your hair has changerd since you did it last. If it has been a couple of years chances are you hair has gotten darker. If your has changed you wont get the same effect even if you use the same priduct. Just be careful because it is people like me that end up fixing those mistakes and it costs more to correct a mistake and takes longer than to have it done in the 1st place. Any questions? C. at C. Try going to a beauty supply store that sells to the general public...Sally Beauty carries them and it also carries lightener and they will be able to help you out. If you have longer hair, I would try one of those kits that you paint the highlights on. It is subtle and less painful. P.S. as a former hairstylist...a little plug for Fantastic Sam's..their prices are very reasonable and you can find coupons on their website. Most important they do a great job! Good luck!

Sounds like Chunking by Loreal. As far as I know they still make it, but I've always had trouble finding it because they always seem to have just one or two among a sea of everything else.

I use "Frost & Glow" which I think is by Revlon(??). It comes with a cap and I've always been pleased with the results. (My friends think I go to the salon.) You can find it at Walmart or Target.

I am pretty sure they still make it... Have you looked at Walgreens? I think I have seen them there... sorry I can't help out with brand name, but if I see one I will let you know the name of it.

Update: I have found some names for you, all come with cap and hook... obviously various colors too!

* L'Oreal Chunking Blocks of Highlights
* Clairol Frost & Tip Maximum Blonde Highlights
* L'Oreal Frost & Design Dramatic Hi-Precision Pull-Through Cap Highlights
* L'Oreal Frost & Design Pull-Through Cap Highlight Kit

Hope this helps, I am surprised you did not find anything at Walmart or Target... I found the above at Walmart and Walgreens (I just happened to be at both today).
