I use an inhaler every once in a while, and I get the same reaction, my heart races and I feel awful.
I suggest documenting what is happening when the anxiety comes on, and see if you can find a pattern. Try deep breathing and relaxation exercises and if your anxiety doesn't get better, try the inhaler.
When I have an attack, I actually wheeze. My doc taught me to blow out, like blowing a candle. If I start coughing, it's an asthma attack.
Remember, with asthma attacks, if you don't use your inhaler soon enough, it will get so bad, the inhaler doesn't work.
