Just wanted to see if any of you Texans had seen a swing in asthma this summer. My son (16) hasn't been bothered by asthma since he was 4 and this summer it has been really bad. 2 ER visits in 7 weeks. Also we have seen a rise in our HS band kids with asthma. Drs. are saying it's because of how dry and dusty it is. there are a lot of kids coming in who usually do not have issues at all. Just wondering what you all have seen. Thanks

What can I do next?

My allergies and asthma have been horrible this year. I have actually started trying acupuncture. It has helped my Ragweed allergy which was really bad 3 weeks ago. Dry air, dust, fires and higher than usual pollen counts all are contributing.

My daughter's asthma has really gotten worse these past few months. I too attribute it to the drier, dustier conditions and the multitude of fires in Texas. Just because they are not near my home does not mean they do not affect the winds and atmosphere.

Yes my youngest has been having problems really bad. No ER visits yet (Knock on wood)! But with all the wild fires burning it's putting so much stuff in the are. I have had to give him the inhalor almost every day for the past month and he hardly every uses it like that. I hope his gets better!!!

Good luck and God Bless!

My son (12) has asthma and its been really bad this year. He typically doesn't have alot of problems with it but his allergies are horrible this year and that's what typically sets it off. We haven't had to take him to the ER or doc (knock on wood) but he has been using his inhaler more than normal. So yes - we have seen a big upswing in it. Hope it settles soon !

no mine only flaired cause of the fires. I have had a couple of rough days but not enough to resort to the inhaler (but I am also an adult and know how to control it) I just took an extra benedryl which is what I do before taking my inhaler.
