Arlington Moms- Have You Been to This Gyno? or Do You Have One to Recommend?

Hi Moms,

I'm on the market for a new gyno. I think I want to switch over to a female gyno because I just haven't had good luck with men. I have some situations that I think warrant a bit more attention and sensitivity to the female body (especially hormones) than the male doctors I have been seeing have been able (or willing) to provide. Specifically, I have dealt with hormone imbalances my entire life (starting with severe acne as young as age nine, which is recurring now at the age of 28... yuck). I'm not pregnant and don't plan to have any more kids for a while, if ever, so I don't need an OB, just a gyno. Also, I have horrifically heavy periods... something that my past male gynos have never seemed to be concerned about. (I've seen Dr. Storts at Omega and Dr. Wood at MCNT. Dr. Wood is awful, by the way, and Dr. Storts is good but way, way, WAY too busy to give due attention to each patient. They double book him on Fridays, and he accepts medicaid so his office is constantly packed).

Researching, I came across Women's Health Services in Arlington (adjacent to Arlington Memorial- Drs. Bergstrom, Peppler, and Watson). Does anybody have any experiences with this office?

What can I do next?

I moved here 7 months pregnant and randomly chose a doctor because I didn't know anyone here. I got lucky with Dr. Dias, she is great doctor. She's right across from Arlington Memorial. She wasn't on call when I went into labor but the other doctors from that office were also great.

I have heard of Dr. Bergstrom and heard good things. Don't know the rest. I will say I use MCNT (not Dr. Wood) and use Dr. Keryn Dias. I have used her for over 12 years now. Love her ! Spends time with her patients, listens, I can ask her anything and not feel dumb. She is in the MCNT office across from Arlington Memorial.

I don't have any experience with Women's Health Services but if you do mind driving to Mansfield, Dr. Erin Westerholm is a terrific doctor!!! She takes the time to listen and is genuinely concerned with your issues. I too, had severe heavy periods and she recommended a cervical ablation for me. That was the best thing ever. It is something that can be done in the office so it is non-invasive. Now, if I have a period, I just wipe blood for 1-2 days. It was my saving grace. The only issue is, that is can cause infertility, so if you are considering having another baby, this would not be a good choice. Best of luck to you!
