Area Rugs Which Wipe Clean

Ladies -

Looking for an area rug which I can wipe clean. It must be spit up and spill proof. Our downstairs neighbor is complaining about noise. Our little crawler makes his fair share knocking over blocks etc.

We had rugs on our hardwood floor before, but we pulled them up b/c we were constantly having to put them through the wash.

Any suggestions?

What can I do next?

Did you decide against a foam play mat?
Yesterday you said to not suggest rugs.

I don't think you will ever find an area rug that will wipe clean. Sorry.
You will just need to scotch guard it constantly and hope for the best!

Foam play mats, that interlock, will provide more noise reduction.
It can be wiped clean, easier than a rug.

Your kidding right? There is no such thing.

What you may want to look at are those foam squares. They lock together, they come in all kinds of colors. Some are made for playrooms, garages, stuff like that. Thing is they are washable and will stop the noise.

How about those foam squares that interlock. I think they are about 3 feet x 3 feet. We have them down in our basement near the washer and dryer and at the bottom of the stairs. I know they have them for the kids play areas in really cute designs and are relatively cheap.

Hope I'm not too late. We had the same idea, but I really don't like foam mats. The dust and dirt just collect on them. I ended up reading up on rug materials and just started buying rugs made from polypropylene, which I found out is the same as #5 plastic, so it's safe. Not the best- ideally I'd like a natural material, but I have to say I'm sold, not only for kids areas. We have one in the front hall, one in baby's room, one under the kitchen sink... all hose down outside and dry in the sun!! Save yourself from rug hell, haha. good luck!
