Are You an "Apple" or a "Pear"?

Or maybe neither? I'm a classic apple, any weight goes straight to the midsection. Are you happy with your appleness or pearness?

What can I do next?

Well they say that pears have less risk of heart related problems, but sadly I'm an apple - I just can't seem to lose that pesky midsection, no matter how hard I try!

I'd say I'm a toothpick...bummer for me. I'd love to have some curves. But really I'm just happy that I'm healthy. That is all that really matters.

Apple. I wish I were a pear-- apples are unhealthier with any weight gain, b/c it is stored in the internal organs...
Pears it just goes on your hip/butt.

okay, well since everyone is getting more specific than either/or...
I am a coke bottle too. LOL But if I gain, I become an apple.

i'm so bummed because i never realize how great i probably did look. Was a great hourglass in hs and as a young mom, but never appreciated it.

I was super stressed 2 years ago and lost alot of weight but was so miserable and scared, things are better, and i'm older and i've packed it on right around my tummy. total apple which is soooo not good.

I was a hourglass without trying for most of my life. It was awesome. After hitting my 30's I started to gain around my middle. Yuck. Thought it was because I was getting older. After 3 years of my midsection gain, my Dr. says, "Hmm, your body shape has changed. I guess we should test you for diabetes." What! You wait 3 YEARS to say this!!!
I have diabetes and hypothyroidism. :( Now that the weight is there, it's next to impossible to get rid of. If you start changing shape, be proactive and ask for reasons it could happen and tests to confirm. It's so much easier to handle it early on! (Yes, I have a different Dr. now, and yes she is great, but the weight is slow to move! Especially after having twins)

So, I guess my answer now is Apple :(

I read somewhere that may shape is called "reverse diamond" Basically like an apple but because I am short waisted the weight sits a bit higher than a traditional apple. In short when I gain weight I look 5 - 6 months pregnant. I am extremely unhappy with this. It's hard to find clothes that look ok and I am tired or being asked when I'm due - or worse, after I had my son my former landlord was shocked that I had had a baby and let "oh I thought you were just getting bigger" escape from his mouth. The gardner that he sent to the house was also surprised but at least he has a filter between his brain and mouth - LOL

Balanced. If I gained a LOT of weight, I would be a pear....but I generally try to keep it pretty trim. My waist stays tiny (except when pregnant) even if I gain weight. I am happy with this because my family has horrible heart disease history and it is much better to be a pear than an apple if you already have the other heart disease risk factors working against you. My sister is an apple....on the other hand. I will take my big booty over a big belly any day!

imagine a pear, only flipped over. Bigger up top. And even though it may sound like not such a problem, ech, id rather be the coke bottle.

****lol!- i just read lima beans entry and realized we said almost the same thing.

I'm usually a pear, except when I'm breastfeeding, them I'm an upside-down pear! I've always been bottom heavy, but when I'm nursing, my butt disappears (much to my husband's dismay). Luckily I go right back to pear shaped after I wean! When I was younger I always wanted a bigger chest and a smaller butt, until I got it! Then I couldn't wait for my body to go back to normal. Now I appreciate what I have! haha

I'm 36 weeks pregnant...I'm a whole bushel of apples :)
When I was breastfeeding with my last one I had an awesome hourglass shape but once I finished I went back to pearlike. I don't mind it, just can't wear skinny jeans or shorty shorts.

i'm an apple. i couldn't handle being a pear. i would be even more self conscious than i am. my fiance loves my appleness. he often tells me he has no clue what he would do if i got skinny. its nice to be appreciated for my size instead of everyone else in the world putting me down for it.
