Are Some Babies Just Fussy?

I feel like my son is cranky 70% of the time. I've tried rocking him, holding him, feeding him, playing with him, but most of the time nothing works! It would really help if someone would just let me know that their kid was just fussy too so I can stop feeling like I'm doing something wrong.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks so much to everyone who responded. Sometimes it's just nice to know that people sympathize. We ended up putting my son on Zantac and he is a million times better! He is playful and cuddly and doesn't scream all day now! I was hesitant at first, but things are going really great now!

My first (now 3 1/2) was the perfect baby, always happy and content. Number two, however, who is 17 months, cried all the time. It's not fun and you do wonder what is wrong, but you are probably doing things just fine. Gas was definitely one of our issues and the gas drops definitely help. Another common thing at 5 months is the beginning of teething. The symptoms can begin way before you see the first tooth. Ibuprofen worked great on my kids. Don't be too hard on yourself. My 17 month old has gotten much better, even though he is still very clingy. But his unique personality is emerging and he can be so fun to be around. Things will get better!

My sister had a crabby kid, he was horrible and I dreaded the birth of my own child because he cried so much...I think gas or bowels is a direct link because he pooped whoppers all the time...totally solid hard little balls and he would just be in such pain from it...as soon as he became one and got off the formula the bowels were corrected and he improved greatly. They had him on the special formula, and it must not have been the right stuff. I would take him to the doctor and not give up on the idea that there is something wrong....most babies are really happy campers...some of my best memories!

My neice was fussy all the time, then they found out she was really gassy. Myclyon is what they used for her. My baby thankfully was miss happy go lucky. She is only fussy if something is wrong. I found that if we alwayed would follow this routen when she woke up it helped. Change diaper, play, feed, Burp, diaper, nap. yes if she needed a diaper change at other times she got them put we made sure we would do that everytime. Except at night that was feed, burp, diaper. She would potty right after she ate and we were only up for about 20 mins. Some babies are fussy and some are happy.

My boys are like night and day. The oldest is still my challenging child but the youngest isn't far behind. With my oldest it turns out he has a lot of food allergies that even bothered him while breast feeding. So many that he was 4 before anybody considered that as a cause.
