Are Day Beds a Pain?

We have been considering a day bed for our daughter. The more I look at them though, the more convinced I am that they are difficult to make each day and it will just constantly look untidy. So are daybeds just as easy as a regular bed or are they a pain to make each day?

What can I do next?

I had one when I was growing up. You can't really tuck in the blankets in the back. I sort of shoved my sheet down in the back, but the blankets just wouldn't fit.
I loved my daybed though! I had big pillows that I could put along the back of it to hid the fact that the blankets weren't tucked in. I had a trundle bed too and it was great for sleepovers.

It's just like having a bed against a wall.

I personally "cheat" on making beds. We don't have top sheets. We have duvets over our comforters. The duvets get washed once a week (along with the fitted sheets/ pillowcases). Making in the morning just means lofting them onto the bed. In our case, that means making beds (against the walls or otherwise) is super easy.

Don't get me wrong... I was military... I can hospital corner sheets with the best of them. But busy life, kids, the duvets make it 5 seconds of "Easy Button" every morning.

It depends on what you choose for bedding...a quilt is easy, but a thick comforter is more difficult.

Not a problem at all. I am able to pull out my daughter's matress and it is only twin size so it is no trouble at all. The 7 decorative pillows on the bed is more of a pain but worth it. My 7 yo daughter likes her bed but her 12 yo sister and her friends LOVE the couch look. She also a has a trundle bed and 3 drawers which is really great!

The difficult part of a day bed is that it's against a wall, so she can't go around to that side of it to smooth everything out. When my daughter had a day bed, I would put the fitted sheet on the regular way, but I'd skew the top sheet and the bedspread so that most of it hung over the open, available side (tucking everything in firmly at the bottom). Then it was easier for her to make it look good in the morning.

Not really-and the ones with the trundle bed looks like such a great idea-when they have friend over-or when they're sick and you need to sleep in their room.

Had a day bed when i was a kid.. I really liked it, but I don't know if I was so good at making it everyday.. I suppose it would be like a bed against a wall.. put a couple of king size pillows along the back to make it look like a couch when it's not being used to sleep in and it helps it look tidier..

I think it's just the same as any other bed and I do actually like our girls better. Since it is higher off the ground, no box springs, I can put tubs of stuff under it for storage of off season stuff and the dust ruffle covers it so out of sight out of mind.

I did not buy the bed set for a day bed for a very long time and was frustrated due to the bed having it's 3 sides not the same as a regular twin. Get the day bed bed skirt and other bedding and it will make all the difference.

We have one in one of our guest rooms, and it is the first thing that is getting thrown away come spring time. For me, it's a huge pain. Nothing looks right on it, it's a chore to fix it after someone has slept in it so most of the time it looks messy.
