Are Concerts Okay When Pregnant?

I was six months pregnant and went to a Rascal Flats concert. I think my daughter enjoyed it more than I did! She was moving non-stop! She'll be fine!! Go have fun while you still can!!!!!

I would have her ask her doctor. I was warned by my doctor when I was pregnant with my first, not to ride in my husband's car with him because of his obnoxiously loud system and the fact that he refused to turn it down (he's now my ex-husband for many many reasons). The doctor told me that there's a little evidence to indicate that the vibrations caused by loud base can cause harm to a fetus. But he said the greatest risk of harm is in the first trimester when everything is just starting to form, so maybe you friend would be alright. I would have her ask though.

My parents went to a Bruce Springstein concert 2 weeks before my mom was due to have me. Their seats were in the 3rd row from the stage. I didn't have any problems as a result.

When I was pregnant last year, my dr said there wasn't a problem with loud noises/music because its all muffled through the fluid.

I went to acouple of concerts when I was pregnant with a couple of my 5 and it was kinda neat, the baby danced to the music and slept great during the nights, with all of my pregnancies I would get woke up during the night because of fetal movement and the nights I went to a concert the bay slept better at night as did I. If nothing else have her check with her ob just to put hermind at ease. All of my kids were born healthy and still are. Good luck and enjoy.

I only had one problem, apparently everyone at the concert has the right to touch your belly!! I would tell her if she's showing wear a shirt that says if you touch mine, I'm going to touch yours. That aside, if it's a rowdy concert be careful of getting pumped or falling and then have fun. I agree with the women who said that the baby slept that night, mine sure did, though 4 months might be a little early. I may use concerts in my next pregnancy to teach the baby day and night (since normally your movement keeps the baby sleeping during the day and then when you lay down at night, they wake up, reversing the sleep wake cycle before birth). Have fun!!

OMG! Yes, as long as she has no pre-existing issues that require her to be on bed rest. I bet the baby has a better time than she does :) I went to a Kenney Chesney & Rascal Flatts concert when I was 7 months pregnant with my first and she was rolling & having a blast the whole time! We had lawn seats so we weren't up close & personal with the speakers but we had a great time all the same :)

I went to a concert at 7 months. It was a big hip-hop concert at Jones beach; I figured the music wouldn't be too loud because it was outside. The event itself was really fun, but we had to take a long train ride to get there, and buses, etc. and that was really rough. I was exhausted by the end. Make sure there are seats at your concert, or somewhere to chill, but at 4 months I had tons of energy and she might too. I say, enjoy your concert.

I went to a concert 2 days before my due date. It was awesome, except for the hushed comments, that people thought I couldn't hear, on how big I was. Anyway, it wasn't an issue at all. My doctor actually encouraged me to go. The baby is insulated well enough that no harm is done. Tell your friend there's nothing to worry about and have fun!

When I was pregnant with my first I went to about 5 concerts. He swished around alot at first but then settled in. He is VERY musically inclined to this day, he has a great sense of rhythm (sp?) and loves music. I don't know if it's at all related but all in all it didn't hurt him.

I would check with the OBGYN, but I went to a Metallica concert at 7 months. It was outside so I thought it would be safe. The music didnt seem to be the issue, the drugs and fireworks and mosh pits were. We ended up leaving early do to all the drunks.

Go! There is nothing to be concerned about. If it's indoors, you don't even need to worry about the smoke anymore. Your only concern should be other people, depending how rockin your 'neighbors' around you get or is you are in a general seating/mosh pit atmosphere. If you have a seat, you should be cool- listen to the music, dance and have fun!
Music is good for the fetus!

YOUR FRIEND will be FINE! Her baby is safe as can be - as long as she isn't body surfing or in the mosh pit!! I've been to several concerts when pregnant and my kids hearing isn't damaged or anything (if that's her concern).

I attended two concerts while pregnant. Baby is surrounded by noise absorbing fluids and organs. Wont hurt a thing! Mom
may want to use some ear plugs or cotton to protect HER ears though! Baby should be fine. I was advised that way, and my Daughter can hear fine, when she wants to..She is 12 now..ugh! Enjoy the show!

I would not be concerned about the noise. Depending on what band/type of concert it is I would be concerned about the crowd surfing etc that could potentially knock your friend over etc (even if she is not participating in it). I know I was not as stable on my feet when I was pregnant and large crowds can sometimes be difficult to move around in and you never want to see a pregnant lady knocked over.

I went to a concert when iwas pregnant. It will not cause a problem. The loud noise is ok. As long as she not jumping off stage and going crazy she will be ok. Loud music and noise doesnt affect the baby.

I went to a ton of concerts while pregnant. I was a promoter and my son's father was a musician. My son has no hearing loss and he seems to like that music now even though he's only 3. (I don't put on inappropriate songs for him now, just fyi in case anyone was thinking that). I just was careful I was somewhere I wouldn't get bumped around alot.

I went to a Brooks & Dunn concert when I was about 6 months pregnant, I loved it and my baby was rocking along right with me. To this day I can get him to go to sleep by putting on Neon Moon and he's out like a light. Concerts should be fine when pregnant with the exceptions of jumping up and down, or body surfing in the crowd, and of course avoiding the moshpits. But other than that it should be fine.

I went to the 9:30 Club twice while pregnant with my son: once when I was about 6 months along and once about three weeks before he was born (I reserved a seat for that show--and wasn't the only pregger at the show)! They are good and protected in there--unless you are planning to hit a mosh pit! LOL

I will say my son sleeps through everything...coincidence? Maybe! :-)

Oh yeah - it'll be fine! I was still performing with a very large Christian rock band up until a couple weeks before my due date. The only effect I've noticed is my son has great rythme and sang and danced at a very early age. Have fun - after the delivery she'll want to stay home and sleep!!! As you may see in my description, my husband is a musician. I have been to MANY of his concerts while pregnant(I've been pregnant 4 times...). He plays mostly rock music, so it isn't quiet. My doctors were well aware of his profession and me going to his shows- the only reference they made to that situation was "cool!" I also have VERY healthy children now! No hearing issues... if that is what she is concerned about. It really is not a concern at all! She should go to concerts while she still can!

I had no problem going to concerts during either pregnancy. I even went to see a loud, techno, standing only show a week After my due date! Thankfully I found a little ledge to sit on, my tired feet were the only problem. At about 7 months pregnant with my daughter I went to see Kenny Rogers and she would be perfectly still during the music but as soon as the song ended and everyone clapped she would wiggle for a minute. My midwife always said it was fine, they are so well insulated that the loudness doesn't affect them, they can feel the vibrations and hear the muffled sounds.
