Hi! I am attending a potluck holiday party this weekend and I am in need of easy appetizer ideas. My husband and I will be running errands before the party and because we live in chilly MN the appetizer needs to be something served cold or at room temp. Ideas??
Shrimp w/cocktail sauce
Cheese cubes (all kinds) w/crackers
Alouette cheese spread (you can put in mini cooler w/ice pack)w/crackers
Salami
Cut up veggie tray w/Ranch dressing
Chili Wheels
10 flour tortillas
8 oz sour cream
8 oz cream cheese
2 (4 oz) cans green chilies, diced and drained
1/2 to 3/4 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
1 1/4 tsp garlic salt
Mix sour cream and cream cheese till smooth: add other ingredients. Spread thin layer over flour tortilla, then roll up. Let them set in refrigerator for a few hours to allow them to firm up. Slice and serve with salsa or picante sauce. Can also add black olives if desired.
Guacomole on the side is good too.
This cheese ball can be made ahead and even frozen.
When you make it, divide it in half and make 2 cheese balls.
Even people that do not like Feta. like this cheese call.
It's a desert but super yummy, easy to make, and easy to transport.
White chocolate covered popcorn. Pop two bags of popcorn. Melt one bag of white chocolate chips in the microwave....45 seconds at a time and stir. Pour over popcorn and mix to coat. Pour out on wax paper to set. Takes about an hour max (or put wax paper on cookie sheet and place in the refrigerator). Then you can put it in ziploc bags to transport. Serve in a pretty container. Can be made several hours in advance....wouldn't do it more than 18 hours in advance....refrigerate to keep humidity low.
Have fun!
I have a quick asparagus salad that can be premade and served cold.
2lb fresh or frozen young asparagus
4 tsp. soy sauce
1 tsp. sugar
2 tsp. toasted sesame seed oil
Slince asparagus diagonally in 1.5 inch lengths. Parboil/blanche until just tender, 1-2 minutes. Drain and rinse in cold water. (I like to leave them a smidge warm.) Toss asparagus into dressing of soy sauce, sugar and sesame seed oil.
My friends often request that I bring this one for parties. I even brought it to Thanksgiving a couple years ago and everyone ate it up.
