I signed up for Upromise, about a year ago, but never used it. Once, I tried to use it, but got frustrated logging in more than once for one transaction.

What can I do next?

I've been a member since 2002, but only used it the last 3 years and have a few hundred bucks in there. I've also done the friends and family thing through there, so anytime my mom or brother shop online, my daughters get the $$. As someone else said, it does add up slowly, but it's better than nothing. In my opinion, every little bit helps!

Hi J.,

I signed up for Upromise in 2005 when my sister enrolled her daughter. It's a nice sight, but I don't use it as much as i used to. The benefit to Upromise is that you can get credit for shopping at actual stores vs just online. The downside is that you have to give them a lot of information. Two other sites that I like, both are shopping portals for online shopping, are bondrewards.com and ebates.com. With bondrewards, you earn point and can redeem for cash or a US Savings bond. Ebates sends a check once a quarter.

Hi J.,

I have used it for over a year now. We have the credit card and I do most of my online shopping through the upromise link. I have found I can combine a lot of the upromise specials and my own direct email incentives on the online retailers. There are also so many big chain restaurants on the network too. Works great and we have it linked to a 529 so anytime you reach $50 it gets transferred automatically to your linked 529. The amount we get isn't going to pay for college but everything helps. If it ends up paying for one semester, we are that much ahead.

Good luck - I definitely think it is worth it since it is free. H.

I do use Upromise and it adds up. We use it at grocery stores and at participating restaurant (see dining). When I first started, I would also use it at McDonalds... when you buy a gift card there, you can register the number on upromise and get a percentage donated to the account... who doesn't go to McDonalds??? ;-)
It may seem like a small thing, but it does add up!

I've used it since 2002 and have had no problems. The money adds up slowly but surely. I registered my Jewel card and the credit card I use, and also had my parents register their Jewel card. I don't use it to shop online, though. I just let the little things add up here & there when I'm doing my normal offline shopping.

Hi J.,
We are signed up for Upromise (about 8 years). It's OK, but not much good for saving unless you do A LOT of shopping (online especially I guess at their special store offers, etc.) There are some grocery store savings, but in all that time, I've earned only about $40!!! Crazy, huh? And I love to shop, but don't do it constantly because I don't need all that extra stuff in my house. Anyway, it'll be interesting to see what other responses you get, 'cuz maybe someone else has done better. Good luck! C.

I signed up for Upromise and registered my credit and debit cards. To this day I've got a 0.00 balance and my son is 3 and a half years old. I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong or if in 3 and a half years I've just never bought something that credits my account. Good luck!

We've had UPromise since 2002, and we've gotten back over $2000! We charge EVERYTHING to our credit cards, so we get the rebate. The nice thing about UPromise, is that they will send you a check for the rebate amount, as good as cash back.

Our credit card is thru Upromise, so we earn like 5% each month back in cash into the account. Anytime I shop on-line, I just click through Upromise, which is on my toolbar and only takes about 15 seconds to use that step. In doing that step, On-line retailers credit 3-10% per sale and they have never missed one (I keep track so I don't get cheated!). Also, I have registered my cards from Jewel, Dominick's and CVS, but those really only give me back about $3 a year each. I have nearly $1,000 in three years time from all sources. Also, I do E-Rewards surverys through Upromise and earn about $5 a month for those.

You can register friends and family, too, but most of mine already do it for their own kids.

I have used it for a couple years now and have gotten a few hundred dollars from it. Once I signed up I downloaded their toolbar so now I just shop online and if it is a site that upromise covers I get a green dot that pops up and I get the money for that site. I don't have to really do anything different. I have never had to multiple sign ins for things. Also I linked my credit card and signed up for the dinner program which automatically gives me money whenever I use my card at a restaurant.

I joined in 2001 because SBC used to give rewards for the phonebill. Since then I've linked my drugstore, grocery and speedpass to the account. I just realized in the last 6 months all the savings I've been missing out on because I dont click on my retailers through there 1st before I make my online purchases. So now whenever I think I am going to buy something online, I check to see if I'll get dredit through UPromise 1st.
