Hi everyone! We try really hard to not use any processed foods in our house. My issue is finding recipes that use ONLY whole foods, and that are fast, easy, and cheap (I am no exec. chef here, and don't have the time even if I wanted to be! lol). Any cook book (or website) suggestions??? Or even recipes that you yourself like???

THANKS!!!

So What Happened?

Wow, thank you!! I am going to try both of those things! Finding recipes without things like canned soup, canned beans, etc. is difficult.

UPDATE: Thank you to everyone else as well!! I actually have one of the Clean Eating books! I didn't realize there were more! I'll have to check that out! And anyone can feel free to message me anything they like! I am a very open person!!!

Have you ever tried e-meals? You subscribe and they send you a weekly menu and shopping list every Wednesday. They have a whole foods meal plan that we use. I get at least half of my recipes from there each week but sometimes I skip a recipe if I think my family won't enjoy it. I think it costs like $5 a month and it does come in handy.

It varies in ingredient cost and time from beg-serve...

The Italian 'bible' .... The Silver Spoon

Most are only 5-6 ingredients. Italians eat seasonally, so you'll find a lot of trending along with certain seasons.

The English translation has been around for ever, but until recently it was well over $100. It's now apx 30 (yay!) on amazon.com

My go-to recipe site is http://tastykitchen.com/
It's user-generated recipes and also has how-to's and blogger contributions as well. You can find home-made-anything on there! You'll run into the occasional recipe that calls for cans of soup or processed ingredients, but it's rare. A friend recently directed me to this as well, it's great! Many recipes have only 5 ingredients... http://thestonesoup.com/blog/recipe-index-2/

Clean Eating magazine and www.cleaneating.com as well as the Clean Eating cookbooks. We also like www.eatingwell.com and www.cookinglight.com. Those also have their own cookbooks and magazines. Clean Eating is the only one of the 3 that uses no processed foods. All these can be found on Amazon. Happy cooking!

I like Annabel Karmel's cookbooks. She has a lot geared toward babies and kids, which can be adapted to regular family meals too. She also has one called "Favorite Family Meals."

We are not vegetarian, but we have "the essential vegetarian cookbook" which has some wonderful recipes. If you really want to eat meat, you could always just add some into these recipes.

I'm not sure if it is still in print, but I have used "The Best of McCall's: A treasury of Favorite Recipes" for many years.

I totally understand your frustration. I ask some of my friends for recipes and often get a bunch of stuff that just seems to try to sell certain products. Ugg, what happened to the good old fashion recipes that list plain simple ingredients?

I recently answered a question on what's for dinner at your house. If you are interested in any of those recipes I would be happy to send you a private message with the recipe. My grandmother never told anyone her recipes, and as a result all those wonderful meals she made us died when she did. I decided that if I find something delicious, I am willing to share. Delicious food is meant to be shared with as many people as possible. If someone eats at my home, likes the meal, asks for the recipe, I gladly write it down for them. And tell them to pass it on...
