Anyone Live in Justin?

We are looking at home tomorrow night in Justin off of 114. I have a few concerns and was wondering if anyone lived in the area. Specifically, it is the Harriet Ranch addition behind the Motor Speedway. Do you have to drive far to get to eating places, groceries, starbucks? Is it just miserable living there on race weekends? How is the neighborhood (Busy, quiet, etc.). Any input would be appreciated.

What can I do next?

I sold new homes in Harriet Creek for a while before I decided to become a stay at home mom. Great price and community. We did have to work on race weekends and certain roads would be closed down, but if you stay home and BBQ you will never know. It really is not that bad. Just certain times in the day where, when all the traffic was re-routed. The city use to give passes to residents. Not sure if they still do this.
If you have little ones not yet in school check out the North West ISD moms as teachers program. It is really neat. Teachers will come visit you in your home and watch your child and then give you tips on what to work on to help prep your child for school. They will do this for kids as young as 1yr old!

We've been here 3 years and LOVE it!

go to www.harrietcreek.com, yahoogroups.com/group/harrietcreek, www.including-you.com and there are myspace pages, etc, too. The "official" hoa site is harrietcreekhoa.com.

The schools are fantastic, we love the community, retail and industry are inching closer every day.

Race weekends are manageable, it's all about timing. Depending where you live has it's own issues (we're on a cul-de-sac and love it)

Well, I've lived in the old town section of Justin for the past 2 years, and while it did take some time to adjust to not having a Starbucks and a Target right around the corner, I have really learned to love it. Everyone here is very laid back and friendly, and I love the fact that I can feel totally safe walking my 3 year old and our dog 5 blocks every Sunday to get a paper, without worrying about someone tearing down the street at 45 miles an hour. As a matter of fact, most everyone slows down to a crawl as soon as they see anyone in the street, and my kiddo loves that people will wave to you from their car while they are driving and we're in our front yard. He gets a big kick out of being "neighborly".

There are some tricks to living here during a race weekend, but it is doable. As the previous poster said, you just have to time it right. When race weekends come, and we want to go out to eat, we usually head north to Denton and have never had a problem coming or going. The only thing you'll see differently in town on race weekends is a line at the donut shops and a packed Sonic. Other than that, the race fans tend to stay out of Justin.

As far as eating out, there is a fantastic Mexican food restaurant that makes killer fajitas in town called Chios, and there is a large cafe called the Lonesome Spur that serves a great breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Roanoke and Denton are only 15 minutes away, and both are full of great restaurants.

I hope this helped!

I don't live there, but there aren't that many race weekends. But when there are even Flower Mound is hard to deal with if you need to drive on FM 1171.

Justin is really up and coming. I don't think there's much out there, but there will be and it's close to Ft. Worth and Denton.
