Congrats on your baby girl!

One way I used to keep my girls awake was take their socks off. My daughters hated their feet messed with :) It did the job. I also used to make sure at night we kept the house quite around 8pm dim the lights and so on and during the day we would have curtains open so light gets in. That way they would get an idea of night and day. It's very hard and frustrating getting no sleep. Just keep trying. In time she will learn her nights from days! Good luck and I hope that helps some!

With my daughter we had to take all of her clothes off, turn the lights on, flick her feet. Yes! Flick her feet. It was awful, but that is REALLY the ONLY thing that would keep her awake. This will pass, but I can totally relate to this. Keep up the good work!!!

My first son was also born early at 27 weeks and stayed at Arnold Palmer for 50 days. To keep him awake at feedings, we did take off all his clothes.

With my second son to change his internal clock as it was a bit backwards, we did wake him up every 3 hours to eat during the day, sometimes this required taking off all his clothes too. We did not wake him up to eat during the night, so he get a longer, deeper sleep cycle.

Also, we did not change our routine and/or make it any quieter for him during the day while he was sleeping. So he had to listen to all the noise, including the ones from his 2 year old brother. It helped correct his clock as he began to learn that it was noisier during the day since the noise would wake him up more often during the day.

Hello A. -

The best way to wake your daughter is to remove all her clothes, flick her feet and also try blowing air in her face. Me and my boyfriend do this to our daughter for her bedtime feedings it it works good. I would also advise you to make sure she is feed every 3 hrs (on the clock) with 3 ozs during the day, so when you get up in the morning for work start your time frame from there. It's a bad thing to say but force her if you have too. It is great she is gaining weight but she also needs the nutrients from the formula/breastmilk. During the night let her sleep, babies do the most growing when they are sleeping. This way, she will eventaully learn that night time is for sleeping.

Hope this helps

Hi A., wow you have been working hard. It sound like you are going to have to try and change her sleep time, her internal clock is backwards. I am sure she is very tired just from being here on this earth. My son went through this when he came home from the hospital he tried to sleep all day and stay awake at night, I am a stay at home mom so I had plenty of time to try and reverse his sleep schedule. This is what I did, I would let him fall asleep while he nursed as he would always do but I wouldn't let him sleep past two hours, I would wake him and feed him and if he seemed like he had a little more wake time left I would play with him and talk to him to keep him awake just a little bit longer and then let him sleep again and then wake him again in two hours, this took a lot of patience and time but after a few days he was sleeping more at night and less during the day.
Hope this helps some.

Babys varied but what your going with your baby is very normal babys for some reason their hours are very different my baby use to do that and after weeks passes she start sleeping more in night and be more awake at day. I dont know if you work but try to rest with her until week passes. another thing I did was to try to give her a formula even she was asleep putting her in my lap and burping her and she didnt wake so early remember they wake wend there are hungry. wish you lot of bless in your new journey
